• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Hello everyone. I bought a new bike, CUBE STEREO HYBRID ONE22 SLT 800, with a Bosch Performance Line CX 5th gen 85nm motor (BDU384Y). Bosch Kiox 500 display.
I live in Spain, and we have a speed limit of 25 km/h, as in the rest of the European Union. 32 km/h would be enough for me. I thought I could easily buy a chip that would remove this speed limit, but after reading the forum more carefully, I realised that it's not that simple. Please help me, what is the most stable and proven solution available today?

There is no good solution unless you can find a Local Bike Shop to flash it to USA or any other country that supports 32kmh.

None of the chips work without issues.

Alternatively return it and purchase from a seller in a country that has the higher restriction applied.

I wish I'd never bought a bike with the Bosch 'Smart' motor. I certainly won't ever again.

Thanks for your response..
I will post here mu post what i send in another thread:

Sorry, I may be asking a strange question. I have now bought a Cube bike with a Bosch performance line cx 5 gen motor. As far as I can see there is no guaranteed solution at the moment. Moreover, I don't see a 100% working solution for the Bosch Gen 4. If I have a new bike and I want to ride without speed limits, why not buy a new motor in America, New Zealand and so on and install it on my bike and just sell the one that came with the bike? The price difference turns out to be the price of the chip, which ends up working like a lottery. Speedbox now sells the chip for 399 euros, which is almost half the price of a new motor)))

This is from the Speed fun gen 5 manual:

Regarding Bosch Connect Module and Bosch Ebike Flow
We do not recommend using the “Bosch Ebike Flow” app (only while traveling) and the Bosch Connect Module as the real GPS speed could be
compared with that of the ebike (manipulated by Furious), and alert the anti-tuning system.

Please note that, although the product has been tested for a long time, we cannot guarantee that tuning will not be detected as we have documented.
cases where it was detected even if it was not installed.

Yes, that is correct, don’t use the flow app or the connect module and it’ll be fine. The rest is a disclaimer, because nothing is guaranteed irl. If you have a Bosch and want to derestrict it, speedfun is the only one. Or just live with it restricted.🤷🏻‍♂️

Good afternoon and thank you for your advice. I contacted them and they replied that they do not have a Bosch gen 5 motor. I searched on eBay and elsewhere, and it turns out that it is not easy to buy one today.

Hypothetically speaking... if one had a Gen5 with US speed limit, and they were in the UK and updated to get the 100Nm torque boost... is there any risk that this would reduce the speed limit?

Has anyone done this yet, updated a US motor with latest 100Nm or 120Nm firmware in the EU? Does it retain US speed limit?

May I ask why not VolSpeed or Speedbox ? I think they havce a pretty good reputation in this field ? Am I wrong ?

Yes, you are incorrect. Speedbox does not have a good reputation for reliability. I have Speedfun in my old ebike and it was flawless and easy with no start up or shut down procedures needed. But by all means, buy what you want. I now have an Avinox powered ebike that has the class 3 28mph option built into the menu, so no need to derestrict anymore. Bosch is behind the times and it pales in comparison to the Avinox. Good luck with yours.
