Bosch CX 4 creaks when peddling hard

I have a cube and focus both Bosch CX 4 and after 1 year the both creak when peddling hard. They were silent from new….Any suggestions it’s driving me nuts. I removed one and tightened the alloy Bosch mounting bolts as a know issue and still creaks…

After 3,000 miles my January 2022 alloy Trek Rail was creaking. After replacing all the knackered rear bearings the creaks have now gone. Our wet UK winters destroy bearings. Next time will replace them after 2,000 miles. Bike feels much 'tighter' too.

Chasing a creak…almost impossible to find on the bike stand. Seems like a process of elimination sometimes. Bearings, cranks, motor mounts, saddle, peddles, shock, etc. starting with the motor mounts is a good idea.

Indeed if I can’t fix the creak going to sell it driving me nuts…

Drive me nuts also. I know there are several possibilities but I need to eliminate all other potential sources. This also gives me the opportunity to service areas that likely need servicing.

The moving parts may be wearing out, need replacing, need re-tightening , or need re-greasing. Finding the source of the creek can be satisfying …and sometimes expensive. Regardless, I get to know my bike and know the areas that may need “special “ attention.

I’ve got a weird noise now. Not a creek…more of a “ticking “ noise when I sometimes apply torque to the cranks/peddles…I’ll still go through the process of elimination until I’ve exhausted all suspects. Motors are the real mystery though.

Yea I hear you and indeed it made me research that special Torx Plus required for Bosch motor mounts. Removed chain ring and added grease and greased every motor mount. Still the same. It’s only under crank load so I wonder if the rear hub?

I had this issue with a Trek Rail. I don’t remember exactly what part but we took it to the shop and glad we did. After redoing all the pivot bearings and everything else, it was something with the motor mount that required some specialty tool, a careful disassemble that could have resulted in stripping something critical, and would have been really annoying to do myself. Cost about $35 luckily and the creaking was not just resolved but it was affecting the motor’s function (it was cutting out if I recall).

I´ve a cube 177 for about 4 months. It creaks like hell on inicial rides on rugged terrains. Now it´s becaming more quiet, or maybe I´m more used to it. Waiting fot 1st service to disassemble and grease some parts/bolts, etc.

Could pedal bearing's come into this equation, after chasing a creak that was driving me mad.
I actually changed to a spare pair of pedals I had , and that put an end to that creak

Well done and thanks for reply…I have given up myself so last resort take it to my local specialty bike dood and if not corrected I am selling it driving me nuts…BTW I got the special Torx and removed the motor tightened everything and still creaks

I was going to suggest checking your crank arms too, I had an annoying creak on my bike which I thought was everything but the crank arms, it indeed turned out to be my drive side crank arm, just a suggestion mate

Creaks are never easy but when I had this, after reading on here, I dropped the motor and noticed small amounts of blue loctite had got onto the motor mounting faces so gave them a real good clean up and also wire brushed the bolts/heads/threads as well. Worked for me even though I didn't think it would make a difference.

Everytime I've thought my CX 4 is creaking it's turned out to the be the pedals

It seems unless I strip them down and re-grease every few months they creak. I just ignore it now

Anyone else had had the thing where you go nuts torqueing and leaning over to listen and then it turns out it was the saddle?

Removed the saddle and refitted it after servicing the OneUp dropper, removed shock bolts and lubricated them, and then torqued every f7cking thing and as said earlier in this thread the creaks only went away after all the rear bearings were changed.

Check your pivot bearings,especially the ones at the back of the motor that get all the crap thrown at them,i change all mine every 2 years,saying that my cube hybrid ones by the motor only lasted 18 months before i had to change them
normally,creaking is attributed to one thing,dirt!
