Hi!
I regret to inform you about the poor performance of the Avinox GNSS head module in interference conditions.
I have recently devoted a lot of time to this problem and can now definitely say that the GNSS head module obviously uses "old" civil satellite signals L1. For several years now, navigation chips have been mass-produced that also use the civil aero-navigation signal L5. The combined use of two signals (multi-band mode) allows for a significant increase in detection speed, positioning accuracy and (most importantly) interference immunity.
In connection with the military events that are currently taking place in various parts of the world, various electronic warfare systems have begun to be widely used in many countries, including radio suppression or spoofing. This is especially relevant for large cities, in areas where military bases or vital facilities are located. As a result, GNSS based on the use of single-band modules either stopped working correctly or work very poorly, unstable. I can include the Avinox GNSS module among such devices.
For example, in the area of my training, modern Garmin and Wahoo head units work accurately and stably (despite radio interference). Whereas Avinox draws a chaotic line instead of a track and often loses the navigation signal altogether. OK! It would be possible to use Garmin or Wahoo bike computers or sports watches to record tracks, but for some reason you do not provide the ability to connect bike sensors to external bike computers via ANT+ or BTE.
That is, the entire functionality of the Avinox control unit turned out to be useless and non-functional. This is a very disappointing fact. The system is closed in itself and does not work properly in difficult electromagnetic conditions. I can't even download the fit/gpx file from your system. A complete dead end.
I think that without replacing the Avinox head unit it is unlikely that the GNSS receiver can be improved. But maybe it is possible to open access to the bike sensors to connect bike computers? This is the most anticipated update that everyone is waiting for.
Thanks.
