Levo Gen 4 - Alloy Launch Discussion Thread

The manual also lists the geometry for the alloy models. Confirms that S1 will be alloy only. Also shows that standovers will be noticeably higher than on the corresponding carbon models.

Too bad that this thread -- and the news trail -- have gone cold.

As a short 5' 0" rider who's been on an S1 Gen 3, it's a bummer.

Took the plunge on an S2 Gen 4 and am making it work.

Specialized Gen4 Board room minutes from 6-22-2023.....We found a way to screw everyone that can't afford the Carbon S-Works, by reducing power and supplying an inferior battery charger to everyone that can only afford the carbon Pro, Expert, and Comp models. Now, on to the alloy models. Those poor suckers are in for a big surprise!! Not only will the power be reduced once again with the all new 'Specialized 3.2AL' motor, and not the new 3.1 , used in the carbon models! With a reduction in power from "101Nm torque, 666W power" to only 91Nm torque, 566W , along with a 600wh battery, and a 10 hour charging time with alloy only charger. This is for all the hard working people raising a family, working two jobs just trying to make ends meet. They don't deserve a carbon model.... Screw all the underprivileged, low-income, impoverished, destitute, indigent, and needy people wanting a new Gen4 Levo.
Yours Truly,
Gen4 Alloy Product Manger

So any further gossip on the alloy version or are we gonna have to wait all the way until end of May/early June?

My local shop will have them on May 27th. Same motor(non-sworks), 840wh battery, same flip chip setup as carbon models, new cable sram 70 transmission, Marzocchi suspension. Not sure on brakes. Price around 5k in the US.

Thanks! I'm guessing that the base level spec? Comp build probably getting Fox suspension and Sram 90?

DB8 brakes on base.,

Cool, thanks. Z1 and bomber air shock on the base and a 36 and Genie on the comp?

Do both come with the 840wh batteries? I know Specialized have put smaller batteries on the base specs builds before.

Yes, both 840. Comp model alloy and carbon will be the same outside of wireless and carbon. The Carbon Comp seems to be a much better deal for 1k more.
Thanks, I guess it come down to your frame material preference.

Have you seen the weights for the alloys?

1 week to go! I tried asking some local dealers for some info and prices but they couldn't help. One did offer a carbon comp to me at a 16% discount however. If specialized had offered some better colours for the carbon comp I might have just taken that deal but for now I will just wait on the alloy.

Interesting that you were offered a discount on the Carbon Comp already. Was there a reason the dealer gave for discount so soon after launch?

No idea, but I assume stock isn't moving the way it used to with the state of the bike market and cost of living issues. The average person doesn't have €8k+ to drop on a bike.

They blew it with the colors on the comp carbon. Old guys don't want pink or bright orange.
Should have made it silver and raw carbon.

If you like the bike not the color and are offered 16% discount you sound very vain.
The color is maybe not the best but you get used to it.
I was happy with 20% discount but that's since I got a good relationship with the shop.
Look at the old prices on G3 when they where released and you can more or less figure out the prices on G4 alloy.

It's not girly PINK but exclusive dentist Champagne🥂

5500 us plus 300 tariff in the states for base and I think it was 7k plus tariff for comp. The aluminum comp was 1k less than carbon but no wireless. Comp carbon at discount is the move.

It's wasn't just the colour. Even with the discount it was still more than I am willing to spend on a bike. I have a preference for alloy over carbon also. We'll see what next week brings.

Guess alloy is with different fork and drivtrain and you save 20-25% but then how much discount can you get.
Ppl who have supported their LBS for a long time deserves a discount imo.

Reason is fat downtube + ugly colors for sure.

Found a pic of the base spec in green. Shame that they've gone with that shock over the bomber air and the Z1 instead of the new Bomber Z (budget version of the Super Z).

Agree that the Bomber Air would have been a better choice, but the Z1 is still a good and fairly stiff fork.
The Bomber Z would be a nice choice though.

Is this the probable rear shock?

1st bike fox rhythm.
2nd bike grip 2.
I was happy with both. I did notice a difference but not for sure better. My frame cracked and now I am onto bike 3.

The simplicity of the bomber is appealing. I was considering the base alloy. Now that it doesn't include the air I am leaning to the comp.

Thoughts?
