Dang. I love my CX Race motors and run them in Race Mode 100% of the time. I have a new CX Gen 5 bike arriving this week. Really hoping Bosch gives us 100nm+/700watts+ and 28mph Class 3 option. May 1st would be better than June 1st.Francis from emtb reviews (Youtube channel) said on YT that he's heard from a bunch of insiders that the upgrade is imminent, either April or May. Maybe 100nm or something in that range. I WILL say that my CX Race motor feels more powerful than my CX Gen 5 in all support modes.
Yes 100nm+ and 28mph/32km/h Class 3 would be perfect. Be great if they made it backward compatible to the CX Race & and CX 4, considering new bikes are being sold with CX 4 and CX Race - like Shimano did with their upgrades.....Dang. I'm in the US, and, frankly, having owned Class 3 ebikes (non-emtb), don't see the need for Class 3. If I am riding TO the trails on roads, I'd rather save my battery (max 20 mph here) for when I want/ need it on punchy climbs, etc on the actual trails. Why kill your battery to & from your way to your trail system?I think there will be NO update related to class 3 or any other kind of speed limit changes, they must maintain compliance with international regulations, European ones especially.
Practically sure, maybe not as huge, unless Bosch literally does a miracle in efficiency.Do we think the increase to 100nm will have a big effect on range?
Wouldn't say a huge affect, but, yes, there will be some affect... reducing it a bit (not a ton). As always, going to depend on how you ride, what mode, elevation changes, etc. As someone who has multiple e-mtb's, including a hardtail Aventon Ramblas with 100nm torque, that Ramblas motor beats the Bosch and my Gen 3 Turbo Levo motor, in terms of power delivery (even BMS), hands-down. I rarely have to leave ECO on that one... need to be in EMtb on Bosch or Trail on my Turbo Levo to come close to the power.Do we think the increase to 100nm will have a big effect on range?
I want the class 3 for riding to the trailhead. I currently get 30 miles/6,000ft elevation running 100% Race Mode. I'm not too concerned with battery life riding 2 miles to the trailhead. The speed limit is 25mph on the 2 roads I ride and it is very unsafe riding 18mph-19mph with no shoulder and every car squeezing past me. If I could go 28mph I could just take over the lane and avoid getting passed every 2 seconds.I'm in the US, and, frankly, having owned Class 3 ebikes (non-emtb), don't see the need for Class 3.
