EMBN just released a video about bike weight and is it important. In this video there’s an interview with Whyte bikes and it shows the new prototype for that bike with the display.

one of the best EMBM videos I have seen. Although mentioned, maybe one factor not given much importance ( other than tyres and wheels) is just how strong the bike is to withstand the fiercest beatings.....and the occasional mishap!
Personally I do not need to lift the bike other than into the back of my van or up onto a workstand, so overall dead weight is not important to me...................and I want a strong, accident resistant bike with full power............so it all comes down to how the bike rides. I ride Whyte bikes and the low centre of balance of their bikes, back as far as 2020, has been really noticeable to me, especially compared to other emtbs I have owned that are top heavy. I prefer the stability of a heavier bike as opposed to the liveliness ( or lack of control!) of a lighter bike for my specific favourite trails. That said I fully understand the more lively ride of lighter bikes suits many others. Luckily we all have choices.
 
Just catching up on this I am about to go to a newly released Bosch gen 5 powered bike am I right in thinking the display might be upgradable and I won’t be stuck with the retro led display? I’m amazed they are still using this!

Yes new screen and software are coming, not sure on ETA.
 
Hello together. I have already seen pictures at my dealers intern catalogue when I bought my orbea bike last week. He showed me the final product. It will look like the prototype frame integration posted above (embn video screenshot) - not easy to see but I try to describe it.
Still has two buttons on right and left bottom corner and as my dealer told me, will cost may be between 250-400 €. The price and the handling is actually not exactly known but seems to be no touch display. It will have a plastic frame around, so no full frameless display but okay frome view of design - not the most modern, but also not totally old school. I expected more when I think about the possibilities of new display types.

It will get published at Sea Otter in two weeks as an answer from embn told me at my YT comment. Should be installable at every frame that has the wider frame holder around the older control unit. Easy plug but not easy play - needs to get matched with the motor by a dealer (as he told me)

Hope this will help to imagine what's coming next. I am really excited what the handling will be.

Yes, that's exactly how it look like. Would be really disappointing.
 
For my needs, speedo, accurate battery percentage and trip is totally adequate. I couldn't care less about touch screens or possibility to watch netflix or use facebook :) Maybe map display would be nice, but with that screen size it's probably not good idea anyway.

Yes, from the manual @gio_se shared above it does have the same limited navigation function as a Kiox 300/500.

But the Kiox 400C is a full controller and replaces any other controller plus the display capability.

Is it a color device?

Yes, it’ll have a color screen, and from the size, I’d say it’s pretty much the same as the one on Kiox 300.

Basically, it’s a mix between the system controller and a Kiox 300, just like you said.
 
I also expected at least some improvement related to Bike lock&alarm management. However, I am staying with the system controller and kiox 400.
 
Nichts Neues vom Sea Otter Event. Vielleicht wird Bosch das neue Panel dann auf der Eurobike vorstellen.
 
Io penso che se mi piace levo il purion 400 dal manubrio e allargo il buco della Mondraker che non hanno previsto e metto il Koix 400C tanto non penso che un paio di centimetri levati compromettono il telaio ,in quel punto il carbone e anche fino.
 
I have the Crafty as well and it's a shame they didn't had the punchhole already there as other brands since you can clearly see it's working. The Purion 400 is still not bad for me either as I don't watch it that much

IT: Fidati: modificare un telaio in carbonio NON E' UNA BUONA IDEA. A prescindere dal fatto che il materiale sembri "fino" o che tu rimuova solo una piccola parte, vai a modificare l'equilibrio strutturale di un telaio la cui progettazione è frutto di mesi di studio, calcoli e test di resistenza. Eviterei insomma, soprattutto per aggiungere solo un nuovo display ;).

EN: Trust me: modifying a carbon frame is NOT a good idea. Regardless of how “thin” the material looks or how small the cut might be, you’re messing with the structural balance of a frame that took months of design, calculations, and stress testing. I’d definitely steer clear - especially just to fit a new display ;) .

Pretty much the exact same here, bought the Crafty R in february, well knowing that it did not have the puchout for the new controller but expecting powerupgrade. Also quite happy with the Purion 400, and it's in a better position to read, but it does occupy more space on the handlebars, and it's one more cable connection that can break.
So seeing the Crafty with the cutout at the launch now, with Mondraker boasting their collaboration with Bosch, it seems a bit silly they were not able to prepare the frame for the display. But then again they were one of the first to deliver bikes with the new Performance CX motor.
I also think they should have included the USB-C port on the Purion 400.
As of now the Kiox 400C does not really give much extra(other than navigation?).
I expected it to both have an integrated GPS for logging rides without the bike and potenially also an e-sim. Would offcourse in theory be able to canibalize the Bosch Connect module.
Also expected the K400C to offer better integration with heart rate monitors or other bluetooth devices og ANT.
Anyways, amazing bike. Love it for the long technical climbs and really looking forward to the EMTB+ upgrade.
