2025 Norco Sight VLT CX

Is anyone else looking considering the Sight VLT CX when it comes out? The specs look great: new cx motor with 800 WH battery, 160/150mm high pivot suspension and only weighs 48 lbs in top spec.

Then only thing I'm not excited about is the sizing. Size 4 reach is 497.5, but size 3 is just 472.5.

If l am correct the Sight Vlt CX will be the 5th Gen, engineered a while now good to preform, so yeah, keen for its release and what reviews it gets....

l hope to see wether Norco's going give up more options as they have with their pushy powered Sight version, giving the riders choice to roll a longer travel fork up front, long stroke shock out back, blurring their heavy beast Range Vlt, expecting the Sight to be lighter from this 5th Gen new design and also as capable....

Prices and specs are up on the US site. 3 models: $6699, $7999 and $9999.
in terms of spec, it looks like Norco is trying to offset the weight of the 800wh battery by speccing a fox 36 instead of a 38 like the Vala. Carbon rims and gx axs on the top spec.
 
You sure the battery fitted was 800WH ?.... l thought it to be the 600WH....
 
Looks good! I had a gen 1 sight VLT and despite some issues with the shimano electronics, really liked the frame. Finish, ride quality & pivots were awesome. New model checks all the boxes. Geometry looks good. decent value. Can take a long dropper. Rear suspension is probably awesome.

I would honestly prefer a 600wh battery, but 48lbs for the c1 spec, not much to complain about.

Throw a 170 zeb and some carbon hoops on the C2 model, hmmm.....

Considering the new VLT or Santa Cruz Vala. Will be interesting to see the size of downtube with the 800wh battery. As someone who likes to "tune" their emtb an extra 200wh over the Vala for extended boost rides is appealing. Norco and Santa Cruz are claiming similar weights. As said above, Norco likely saving weight with a 36 fork as opposed to a 38, but I also think a 36 fork could be more suited to a 160mm "all mountain" bike as opposed to the big stiff 38.

Beautiful bike outer my price range for the first ebike . Weight might not be the only consideration . Any top spec forks ride like a dream

No I had too much problem with Bosch the Norwegian climate makes them error in the winter they are only certified until minus five degrees Celsius,, but I still want to try it actually last time I froze my cube into forever error the store just gave me a new bike which is one year newer so maybe it's the way to go getting new bike's because when they sell it here it's their problem if it can't survive in our climate we consumer's are well protected here but we pay more don't buy stuff here if you want it cheap 😂 anyways super nice bike
 
Im between this and the Vala. Im surprised they didnt offer a lower batt cap option. If I can save 2lb on the battery Im all for it, I dont need 800wh, its nice to have tho.
 
The 2024 Sight Vlt 25.2 kg size 3 has presented to be a one off short lived.... The Norco's Range Vlt frame design appears similar, some geo differences and obvious longer travel. Bike offered with 3 specked range in the line up...
The 2025 Sights with its new looks design, any words floating towards changes made to the Range Vlt...

This bike is the current leader for me.

The price, geo, rear suspension design, everything is exactly what I'm looking for EXCEPT, well I'd really prefer the DJI motor and a 600 watt battery.

They list the weight as 50#s but by the time I installed my coil suspension, pedals, tools, gravity tires & sealant it would weigh closer to 55#s and that's really more than I wanted.

I've been eyeballing them too. Agreed that the specs seem good. In their launch teasers they were talking about a 20% weight loss from the previous model, which I thought must be just referring to the drive unit or frame, but it seems like they were genuinely talking about the whole bike. Of course it doesn't hurt that the 2024 model was a serious tank!

The weight does seem pretty impressive, although looking at the spec, it doesn't seem that there is any black magic involved. For example, from what I can tell, the VLT is either about the same weight or slightly (1-2lb) heavier than the new Santa Cruz Vala, with both having the same motor and similar Horst link suspension design. The VLT has the 800wh battery vs. the Vala's 600wh, so that seems like Norco really did something special UNTIL you see that all the Norcos have 36mm forks, whereas all the Valas have 38mm forks, so Norco has gone for a less heavy duty fork to compensate for the battery weight. Another bike that can be interesting to compare is the Cannondale Moterra SL, which is only 45lbs with a 36mm fork and a 600wh battery, so I guess I'm saying that apples to apples, the Norco is most impressive when compared to their previous very heavy bike, as opposed to the similarly cutting edge models from their competitors.

Having said all of that, the Norco is very competitive, and has made it onto my list of possible next rides. I rode one of their low/mid power models with the SX motor last fall and really liked it. And if you think those size jumps are too big, you should see the Ibis Oso which goes from 460mm reach on the Medium to 500mm on the large! It would be nice if companies sized their trail and enduro bike head tubes to make reach adjust headsets easier to fit as they do on many DH bikes.

That is a valid point in general, and I agree that there is a lot of splitting hairs in the bike world as we all argue over a few millimeters and grams...although the previous model Norco did weigh 20% more so it is certainly possible to have some substantial and meaningful variation in weight if you're not being careful with the design.
 
I’m curious what sizes you guys are getting. Norco’s reach numbers are crazy long. I’m 5’11” and Norco recommends a reach of almost 500mm. Im used to 475 or 480.

Im 177cm getting the Size 3. Close nos. To my current S3 kenevo sl.
 
Do any of you guys know how reversable these mods are? These derestriction kits are very intriguing, but if you have a motor failure (which can happen from time to time regardless of mods) and it's still within the warranty period, can you reverse everything to avoid raising any eyebrows in the warranty process?

No. To put it simply the Bosch dealer system can detect tampering.

Hey man, thanks for the info! I had thought I was posting that question in the specific Bosch Gen5 Derestriction thread but somehow it ended up here, so my apologies for the non-sequitur thread derailment!
