Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

@HeyHey If you do get an Ohlins coil then rotate the damper shaft to move the Rebound knob to the rear (as below).

Bought from TF Tuned - came from them with the 3 shims pre-installed so the shock was standard 57.5mm.

Edit: but have since tried 60mm and 62.5mm but have stayed with 57.5mm which works nicely with the forks (Lyrik Ultimate MY23). Am 5'10/75kg with a 525lb spring. Tried a 500lb spring which felt too soft, the 525lb felt better for where I mostly ride (South Downs) so stayed with it.
Thanks! You are being more informative than the two retailers I have tried to get this info out of.

Thats good info, thanks!

if put in vivid coil the spring will fi in between the rockers since the shock's body will move up by 25mm?

Yes that was the idea, then I could use any 205 x 57.5 trunnion shock I liked - as long as the piggy back clears the frame.

As it turns out I got a great deal on a 230mm jade x so bought that instead. I needed some heavy shim work to feel right though.

It clear the spring and the pivot just waing the proper trunnion bolt

Hi, does anybody know if Rockshox Vivid Ultimate Air 230x62,5 will fit to Rail 5 gen.2 (625Wh 2021) Large size aluminium frame? I know that 230x60 fits but have no clue if 62,5 will be fine as well. Thanks

That pic doesnt say much. It is when compressed and forced down (to take away flex) you can se if it really fit.

Should be okay to trust the pros at tftuned?

Hey gentlemen, looking for some insight on my rear shock. I have read all 23 pages on this forum and.l have not found a solution.
Current bike:
2020 Trek Rail 7 aluminum 230x57.5

I purchased a fox Float x with hopes it would fit.

Unfortunately the piggyback makes contact with the downtube at full compression.

My question has anyone with this year trek rail had success with any shock? I think through my reading the carbon and aluminum grams fit different.

Thanks in advance

DVO jade x is amazing and you can find them very cheap, the prime is even better but a bit more pricey.

I have a 22 Gen 2 Rail 7. I had the same issue, I originally purchased a DHX (long story) and the reservoir hit the downtube. I replaced it with a DHX2 and its great. Same stroke and eye to eye as stock. No change in travel. I love it. This bike loves tech, absolutely savage in the loamers. Just make sure to account for the weight of the motor and battery when calculating your coil spring weight.

@BadboyTroy There are multiple posts of Ohlins coil shocks with fitting tips throughout this thread, don't know how you missed them ;)

As already said in this thread, have Ohlins TTX22m.2 coil shocks on our 2022 alloy Rail 5's, mine is Large and wife's is Medium.
