A little bird told me: the new Levo will have variable geometry, it can be a mullet or a 29er and it will have an integrated battery with three sizes, 450, 600 and 800 W/h plus an optional 250 W/h range extender.
If what you say is true then they definitely used 21700 or the newer 22700 cells.

800Wh pack:
42(14S3P)cells x 3,65V x 5,3Ah = 813 Wh

There are a few of different cell brands out there that can be used for this application. The pack with proper packaging could weigh cca 3,9kg. It also goes in line with the Brose battery capacity in the other post.

The pack can be even a higher capacity if they choose a higher capacity cell. I. e. a 5,8Ah cell would result in an 889Wh pack.
These cells weigh cca 74g, only cells would weigh cca 3,1 kg, the whole pack with proper packaging could weigh cca 4kg.

There are by my knowledge only three manufacturers that make a cell with this high capacity Keeppower P2160C, LG M58T, LISHEN 5800. As already said these cells weigh cca 74g, so only cells would weigh 2,1kg, the whole pack with proper packaging could weigh cca 2,7kg.

There was a comment of a Brose 468Wh pack...which would imply to this configuration.

What I would hope is that for this smaller battery pack they used cells with a high discharge current spec like the Molicel P45B. That would result in a lightweight ebike that has a battery pack almost without any noticeable battery sag.
The weight of this battery could be really good as the cell weighs cca 68g, that would mean cells only would weigh 1,9kg, add housing and parts and we have a 2,5kg lightweight pack with high discharge capabilities made for race applications where consistent power throughout the race is better and it would not overheat fast.

Agreed. Never liked the design with the asymmetrical shock stay. Guessing that’s a small frame, so the bulk of the motor looks disproportionately worse.



Suspect the design of the output stage of the motor (gears vs belt drive, bearing design/quality, etc) has a bigger impact than 80nm vs 90nm.

This is a warranty replacement. I was not a fan of the Maroon color on the previous frame...and it didn't say S-Works on it 🙃

If they retained the Brose ecosystem then you are limited to this:

Brose also share intriguing details about their 48V batteries: The Smart Fast Charger is designed to charge at a rate of 220-250W, with the maximum charging power peaking at 350W. As per Brose’s information, this translates to a full battery charge time of approximately 3 to 4 hours.

Hey just for comparison and a wider understanding how good systems are becoming. I think this is pretty impressive...what this guy on yt did:


New Bosch CX gen5 all in turbo mode,
The 800Wh +250Wh extender,
Time of 2h5min,
Average speed 15,5kmh
Average incline of 8,5%,
His ride ready weight 75kg,
Bike weight 23,7 kg(800Wh+250Wh),
Distance 32,6km,
Altitude gain 2705m.

What I liked is the fact that the main pack and the extender worked in dual mode(discharged simultaneously) until 10% remaining on the main battery pack.

I think the new Bosch is still a contender, despite it's low torque figures, there is more to see there I guess...the improved thermal stability(seen from lab tests) could imply to a torque bump in the future.

I am eager to see how the new Brose is in comparison.

Bosch is not just a contender,it's the leading system at the moment when you take into account service and proven reliability.
And once the 100nm and wireless screen arrive this summer,it will be up there with any other system in terms of features and tech.

why? thats fucking stupid. range extender should be empty first, like on the rise, so it can go back to the backpack. who wants to change the weight distribution of the bike and general handling for 90% of the riding?

It's optional as far as I know, and a range extender on it's own is really weak to consistently power a FF ebike. Probably the name 》range extender 《 says that it's not meant for trail riding, but to extend range, so more for the long days in the wilderness, at the end it's personal choice...

yes, a range extender, not a weight extender. i used the rise one to get up the (first) mountain, then had a full main battery for the rest of the trip. and no extra weight on the downhill that makes the bike feel sluggish due to increased center of weight

Yeah, cos who doesn't want a heavy inflexible lump in their backpack when they fall off...

Ok, so it’s in your back pack, but it doesn’t really make that much difference surely.

I use range extenders on both my Jam2 and the Levo SL, they work fine for an extended ride, but the main benefit is when you leave them behind on shorter rides, it’s good to have the option is the point.
 
2025 Levo will have an ~850WH battery with an optional 250~300WH range extender. The battery will be modular and can be taken out from the side of the frame, allowing for quick swaps, there will also be no drag when running no battery. There will also be a 600WH option to save weight.

The normal models will come with 100NM of Torque. The S-works model will have 111NM of Torque.

The S-works will be priced around $18,000.

Release will be early to mid april.

re on the bike changes handling on the way down, re in the backpack adds about the same weight of all the water i drank on the way up, so my pack wheighs about the same as on the bottom of the hill, yet the bike handles as it should. if you don't feel the difference, you don't really bike
