What did you buy your ebike this week?

So last night I had a bit of a fettle night, used some fricking lazooooors.

I know what M8 means, it's a metric thread bolt that is 8mm diameter.
I assume that 45 mean 45mm long. Is that overall, or from the under the head?
What does 1.25" mean? It means "one and a quarter inches" to me, but it's probably not what you mean. And what is its relevance?.
I understand "socket head" to mean that the head is a cylinder without a taper to the bolt diameter, ie a square shoulder. The socket is where the Allen key goes.
Does any part of the bolt have an unthreaded portion? I'm thinking of the bit where the shock bushing fits.

If I fully understand what you are looking for, I would be happy to have a look as well. :)
What you are talking about is commonly called a Shoulder Bolt in the US.

It would be called out as M8 x 1.25, M10 Shoulder, 45, with the 45 being the shoulder length:

M8X1.25, M10 Shoulder Shoulder Bolt 12.9 ISO 7379 for something similar.

Ha, no that absolutely would not work. Shoulder bolts, stripper bolts call them what you will but they're characterised by having narrower threads than shafts. A shock bolt is consistent across shaft & thread. That's what makes them hard to find when you own a bike from a abrand that withdrew from your country last year & ditched all its dealers in the process.

Anyhoo, the Jam is repaired. In the end, I found two ex. Nukeproof guys who've set up a business - Ascend components - to keep those bikes going & it so happens, they sell shock bolts that are matching dimensions other than being 5mm too long but I cut the bolt down so it's flush in the frame & I'm all good to go. Two bolts in the kit, so one fitted & the other for illustration.

Seems the laser might need some calibration? 😎
I have best results standing in front of the bike, wheel between the legs and the hold and feel handle bars while adjusting.

I use a length of thin non stretch cord marked dead centre by a marker pen with each end hooked onto large medical BD Plastipak 100ml syringe bodies which fit nicely over the grips. Then go out and ride around the block with a hex key in my pocket to make any minor adjustments. Back in the garage torque up to correct settings. (Use the same syringes to inject sealant into wheels).

I brought my Canyon strive on CFR LTD a pair of Magic mary radials, the hype is real!
Man they are like blue tack , felt like the bike was on rails today .
Gravity soft rear and trail pro super soft front , running the same 25 psi from and 28 rear as the old rears .

I use the Lazer Eye technique.
Stand directly above your stem and line up the bar to the crown of the forks…now close one 👁️ eye. Tighten up the stem clamp. Make sure your front wheel is facing forward. 🤔

* just wondering what you do when your front wheel is facing backwards? 🤔

Good to hear ..but I'll wait until I've won Euromillions before I give radials a try ..£80ish a tyre ..the hype needs to be real !😁

Good work, I’ll have to remember them if I ever need a bolt for my Jam2. 👍

A new bouncy thing for the levo..
Bomber Air shock
£150 from Merlin..seems like it was a decent shock at rrp £450 ish..

Took half hr to fit due to having to remove all the bushes and fit the specialized specific ones from the oe shock..flip chip so no bushes needed at the bottom end.
Got the 210x55 so a little more travel than the original...needed 210psi to get the sag..seems very nice 👌 210x52.5..fitted to the 2019 model.

I’ve just picked one of these up as well, need to send a couple of shocks off for service soon, so this will keep me riding whilst that’s happening.

Seems really good for the cash, haven’t ridden it yet but will give it a go this weekend. Cheers for the heads up! 👍

That’s awesome! My method can seem a bit primitive but this streamline’s the technique. Well done 👍🏻

I was gonna patent the idea but it looks like you improved it.
I would call that a spirit leveler hoarding problem! 😉

Learned today that germ. „Wasserwaage“ is in engl. „spirit level“. What I would have related to either motivation or drinking. 🙂

Definitely! I’m down to 6 levels (from 14). Kept one of my laser levels but I have this one (same) in storage. Got it at a yard sale for $20.

I’ve used 4litre plastic coke bottle half full of water also.
