Well that matches the rumoured specialized timeline. But if this is true this would mean the first Gen4 Levos would be available to customers not before summer 2025 or more realistically autumn!
I assume that refers to the Brose badged version of the motor with all the Brose ancillaries.
If Specialized use the Peak motor that's all they'll be using and they'll be rebranding it as part of their own system as in the past. I'm sure Specialized would like some initial exclusivity. I wouldn't read any Brose dates as Specialized dates. I would expect the Levo to be available well in time for 2025 riding season.

No matter what happens they can’t screw up as bad as Pivot did
I’m just tired of waiting at this point and will likely go another direction. My plan was to buy either buy a LSL or KSL frame for a custom build and replace my gen 3 with the new gen 4 Levo, looks like neither will be happening now. The 2025 LSL/KSL frames aren’t available in the UK and there no time frame for the gen 4, I don’t have enough patience to wait.

They released a new model based around the gen 4 race motor at pretty much the exact time the gen 5 bikes were bring rolled out.

Buy a KSL comp and swap out the bits you don’t like? Probably cheaper the frame on its own.
Just a thought why Mahle maybe wasn't/isn't choosen for the new Levo...
Mahle is a big car industry parts developer and supplier as first, the cycle e mobility is important but IMO just a side track for them.
Current situation with the car industry in Europe is not very good and Mahle is not immune to that, already since fall 2024 they are slowly announcing/closing factorys or laying off workers.
We have one of their factorys here in Slovenia (Mahle Electric Drives), where mostly parts for electric motors for cars are made. I know they also manufacture the X20 hub drive ebike motor there. I am not sure if they were/are manufacturing others also.
Well already last year there was talk about closing, now the factory is laying off cca 600 workers, most probably closing later on...

Yep, the same thing could be said for Bosch, Brose, and Mahle with regards to their automotive focus far out-scaling their e-bike focus given the size of the car industry compared to us relatively-measly cyclists.
Yes I definitely get more fun on my bike than I ever will in a car. But sometimes grudge paying maintenance. New TCU this week maybe a motor upgrade.

The weird thing is that Brose announced starting production of the system in june 2025. If specialized is getting the motor from them maybe they will get the first batches or it means that Brose is manufacturing the specialized motors first but its still a weird timeline if they plan to announce the bike now because the motor has to be shipped around the globe and the bikes assembled and shipped around the globe again etc. This will take a few weeks or even months aswell.

It's not that weird. You have to look a what Brose supply to Specialized and what Brose markets as their own system as two separate things. Specialized have only ever used the Brose motor. They develop everything else themselves so they are not running a Brose "system". As I said above do not read Brose dates for their own new system's release as release dates for anything by Specialized.

Well the current motor is a bog standard brose s-mag. The only difference is the software. So if brose talks about starting up the production line in june its a weird wording because it would be nonsensical to have a separate production line for the same motor just because its labeled as specialized.

Interested why you would say an efficient 48V Brose motor would be underwhelming compared to a DJi 36 volt motor. You can’t just look at peak values because nobody rides at peak values for any length of time. 48volt should have great efficiency for a start & may well have a great torque curve
As a package after riding a DJI Avinox a few times it’s a great trail bike but definitely finds its limits far quicker than a Levo. That’s not a criticism though as the Avinox is a trail bike and is definitely lighter duty than an upper model Levo running 38’s etc. it’s a whole package.
