Also been playing with the DP C245 v3 display and Go+ - this introduced a new long range feature called "no assistance in anything but walk mode" .. fortunately I've just worked out how to fix that and have assistance again.

Now that is what I call clay soil!
I have posted a pic of a previous bike that was similarly gunged up. It just ground to a halt.
Clay soil is worst once the worst of the water has gone, because until then the presence of the water makes the clay slippy; but once it starts to dry out........! Awful, awful stuff.

Went out today, looking southwest over Stoke Down, West Sussex, UK.

Chased these critters down the trail, they were everywhere.

It was mucky as hell after the recent rain, my Assegai was completely packed and effectively a slick! Bye-bye front and rear Assegai next week.

Good job I didn't have to brake doing this silly bit!

Autumn is coming. Second and moderate tour today after Covid hit me a month ago.

One of the few big trees left near Vancouver, Canada. CBC Trail, Mt Seymour. The woodwork was a little slippery with the mud that was tracked onto it making for an interesting decent into the woods today.

This was it on the day (the hottest day of the year).

This was it yesterday, taken from right angles and to the left. It followed one of the wettest weeks for a while.

That's at least another 4' of water! (1.2m)

Seen a few places in UK where they have short sections of that wooden bits they cover it with Chicken wire as we call it . No stopping if you started sliding on that.

The trail builders have used chicken wire on some of the steeper skinnies we have around here but tend to avoid it as much as possible, Crashing on it is like crashing on a cheese grater on your legs and arms!

Yeah…our nice weather let’s us wear our E-Speedos more often while riding.

I don’t like the chicken wire on small bridges. Aluminum expanded metal can be helpful but it’s very expensive. A cross-hatch pattern on a flat bridge surface is almost as good as raw-split-cedar.

Either way …slipping off a bridge sucks. A taco rotor or a face-plant is not a nice result.

It’s like a taco wheel …only smaller. You’ll need a rock-hammer, or a T-25, to straighten out the rotor just to get home. For gawd’s sake don’t try to eat it.
