So I have ordered the

SHIMANO SW-EN600-L STEPS

but I still don't really know what cable to get for my Orbea Rise for it to work.
I plan on replacing the EW-100 and the old mode switcher and use the new one instead.
As I understand it there are two different kinds of cables but it's difficult to find out what kind of cable I need. I plan on connecting it via the junction box near the headset with an cable that runs from there and all the way to the switch unit.

Any help appreciated.

It is not about the cable, the switch is only for the new EP6.

If cable, the switch has the small SD-300 cable, the box the SD-50.

Hmm do you know for sure that it won't work with EP800? I don't see a reason for it not working with EP800.
It certainly also works with EP801 since it's sold on the 2023 Rise with that motor.

It is discussed many time here and in other forums. The new switches, buttons, etc. are not wokring with the "old" EP8 Motor system due to the new CAN bus.

I would love, if it would work, I want the new display and power button.

I guess I don't follow other forums and I haven't seen it here. I specifically looked for it here in the Shimano steps forum and didn't see it. But that's sad to hear, I guess I will have to return it when it arrives then. Searching google for SHIMANO SW-EN600-L STEPS EP800 compatibility also does not return anything useful, so I don't really think it's that obvious.

I have already connected SW-EN600-L (disconnected SW-EM800) to SC-Em800 and EP800 Motor. It didn't work. Turns on and immediately goes off. SC-EM800 like SC-E8000 has power button and Bluetooth and SC-EN600 and SC-EN610 haven't Power button and Bluetooth. Power button and Bluetooth are located in SW-EN600-L. It's expected after connecting SW-EN600-L to SC-EM800 the system hangs because there are two power button and two Bluetooth and it's against etube project protocols. I have ordered SC-EN610 to test and connect to SW-EN600-L and to EP800. Waiting to recieve in next days. The new firmware updates for SW-EM800 and SC-EM800 have made them compatible with EP801. If they are compatible to newer CAN version why shouldn't the new display and switch be compatible to old CAN? SW-EN600-R, SW-M8150-R and RD-M8150 are all compatible with EP800, EP801 and EP6. CAN compability makes no sense.

I have ordered, I hope it would be compatible. Technically it should be compatible with ep800. No one knows but I hope. When RD-m9050 came to market many people told it's not compatible with e8000 motor and shimano compability charts still shows rd-m8050 is compatible and not RD-M9050. Technically I have been using RD-M9050 and SW-M9050 on E8000 and EP800. I hope SW-M8150 would work on EP800 and RD-M9050.

on shimano pdf not compatible

I cannot see why this wouldn't work since there is even an adapter from shimano to go from one cable to the other?

But I think you have to disconnect the original power connector and the original bluetooth module on the rise so there is only one for both options

Like to hear more thoughts or if anyone succeeded

it is not working because there's probably a list of authorized components inside the firmware of each components or computer display ...

the adapter doesnt mean the new en600 shifter is compatible

ep801 mandatory to use 12s di2 and that's all

any news ?

SW-EN-600L Switch is not compatible with the EP800 motor. It is compatible with EP801 and EP600. This information is directly from the Shimano Compatibility Chart.

I have odred a bike with EP801 and Sw-EN600K switch, i can see em800 display is cheap, but it may not be compatible

I had this exact problem with my EP801. You cannot run the EM600L switch with the EM800 display. You must follow the compatibility table. EM600L switch with EM600 display. Or EM800L switch with EM800 display.

I fitted the EM800L Switch with the EM800 display, and SW310 in the top tube. It's a much cleaner cockpit.

lol...is it just me who think that chart is utterly useless?
it looks like everything is just compatible with everything. Or you go trough EW-SW310 to 800L. Doesn't matter.
Or maybe I'm just too stupid to read that chart. I do however think they make a great job at making something that shouldn't be complicated at all, quite complicated.

If you fit the EM600 display with the EM800L switch. You won't be able to turn the bike on, and you wont have bluetooth. If you then also get the EM600L switch as you have drawn. This may work, but you'll have two Left Hand Switches.

But you definitely cannot get 800 display and the 600 switch because there is no path in the compatibility table, as they both have bluetooth.

Regardless. Every bike builder I have seen who fitted Switches, Bluetooth and a Display, went down the 2 paths I have shown.

I use it all the time and have never bought an incompatible device. My bike came with a EN500 combined switch and display. I tried to leave it on when I got the EN800 display, and nothing worked.

You just cannot go down 2 parallel paths. One path from top to bottom. No going upwards. Only downwards.

I made an example that I knew didn't work, to illustrate how the diagram is not logical (to me at least).
