I owe scott lumen 900, while i pedal alot with assistance turned off, i hear ticking noise from motor when right pedal is between 10 and 12 hour, i check all, change pedals, torque bolts, chainrings, cranks...all, i noticed when i turn on assistance even on most little possible setting ticking noise is gone, so its 100% coming from motor, i really dont wanna use motor all the time, thats why i buy tq bike, so if any of u have some ideas, i would be glad. Offcourse dealer say they dont hear nothing....🥶🥶🥶

Check that the motor compensation screws (read the tq motor installation manual available on the tq website)are set to the correct width for the frame.

My trek fuel exe creaked and clicked until I did this, now it's silent.

Can't add anything with the ticking but with regard the motor assistance, have you tried changing the motor tune? I have mode 1 set such that it's really only compensating for the extra weight, then when I have had enough, I switch to mode 2 (which is also substantially reduced from the factory settings). Gives quite an amazing range too, 70+ km.

I checked compensations screws they where to tight, i did as in service manual, put all back togather, clicking noise still there...no change. When i pedal with turned off noise is there also i can feel in pedals, when on, there is no noise...yes somene can say just turn it on and thats it...i dont agree bike for that money must function properly

I have the same noise . Had the TQ motor replace noise came back when motor is off ,turn the motor on it disappears. I
agree it shouldn't make any tick or clicking noise when peddling with motor off or on , Have checked all the above .My bike is 9.5 trek fuel exe . My specialised doesn't make a noise when motor is off.

Did u try to tighten chainring with 50nm? I still wait wrench....this noise is making me crazy...levo sl is dead silent when pedal turned off. .

Yes ,chain locking ring is @ 50Nm .I can put bike upside down and load pedals up with my hands and make it click when you push from side to side on pedals ,sounds internal to me ,but hope I'm wrong.

Its for sure internal, why stops when motor is on...thats hardware problem

If someone wanna hear how that sounds check link below, allways when motor is not engaged it means when pedal without support or over 25kmh this sound come on:

Have email TQ , 2 times now, about this clicking noise when peddling, with motor off and, guess what No reply.

Hi mate just wondering I thought you couldn't change the the motor mount width on the treks but you have ?? I've had that clicking noise coming and going since I brought it 8 months ago , Trek sent a new motor but it started doing the noise again after about 80ks , since then I've tried everything even had the spindle out there's nothing in the motor that could make that noise , then when i was putting the motor back in for the hundredth time I realised the motor was not a snug fit when i asked trek about adjusting the motor mounts they said trek made it so they aren't adjustable from factory ?? I can sometimes feel the clicking noise through my pedal into my foot as well did you feel that ??? Not only that problem but the thing is now cutting in and out of power 😠

Thats not correct, the motor mounts are adjustable for width, its not the mounts on the frame that are adjustable, but the width of the motor itself. Mine came set way too narrow and it creaked like an old bed, I set the width using some vernier calipers as per the tq motor installation guide, and the creaking was instantly fixed.

I got new motor instaled yestrday on my lumen 900, thats WHOLE different story theb with the old one, motor is dead silent, no drag when off, no ticking noise....amazing really, also battery consumption with new SW is 10% better then before....im amazed now really as i was so much dissapointed before.
Only issue is data show on garmin regarding power input from rider, is still 20% less then real data from garmin pedals.
But motor now is 👍👍👍👍👍

Cool! Can you write the serial number of the new engine? The question is, have they improved anything on these engines?

Thanks! Looks like they could have improved something in the engine. Officially, TQ is silent on this matter…

How far have you traveled with this new engine? Are you still satisfied?...

That would annoy me so much, it annoys me just watching the video. Hope you can resolve

I got new motor, but after 500km sound comes out again SOMETIMES.
I have the same problem on my Simplon Rapcon TQ. Wrote to TQ directly. First answer was, they don't know any clicking sound issues on their motor (!). Then I wrote back that I can't quite believe their statement, because the forum is full with complaints. Next answer was they will replace it and investigate the old one. However, I am afraid that the issue won't be solved long term with a new motor, as you have also mentioned that it came back. I have now around 500 km on my first motor and the sound comes and goes. But most of the time it makes the sound, which is annoying. But to feel it in the pedals is even more annoying. Nevertheless I like the motor and the whole system. It could be a bit more efficient but otherwise it is great.

This sound and data about rider imput and cadance make me not like this motor. If i compare to 3 years old levo sl....ok noise on levo sl...but all others is....much better
