Dope looking bike man. May I ask what was the rationale behind installing a 40 mm rear rim in the back? I'm just curious why would one opt for a wider rim only for the rear instead of both ends.

I am generally running 2.4 to 2.5 front tires and 2.6 to 2.8 rears. So went for wider rim to reduce tire lateral roll and squirming. Plus I think a square profile back give better braking. While front needs to be more of Rounded profile.

Interesting. Pushing the moto-ethos of mullet a bit further.
That bike looks fkn sweet too... even before absorbing the spec

EDIT: Good luck with that Birzman road bike pump (IIRC) on the fat rear tire though

1. Go ride the bike. It's way too clean.
2. If ya really want some sick traction ( not sure on messy mud I will find out today ) try the surly 27.5x 3.0 diet wizard.

Yeah they look cool. But 3.0 with our clay mud around Auckland will mean way to much clogging. Would definitely look at an 2.6 if available. Have been running a Shorty 2 2.4 front with a Assegai 2.6 rear which I like, could see that Surly tire pairing up nicely.
Currently ridding steep sandy lines with shorty front and rear excel in.
Bike is clean because it get lots of love. Riding 4 times a week

The 3.0 is insane on Sandy terrain it's amazing in Sedona down by the Oak Creek area where there's a lot of sand also some of the trails along the Verde River have super Sandy areas the thing just nails those. I just took that bike out for a ride yesterday I was going to ride today too but it's too wet too really be bothered cuz I have to work on the house to make sure it's not going to be flooded from this rain I'll go tomorrow
