Official Merida eOne-Sixty thread

I emailed Merida over the weekend and they've responded back very quickly this morning....

Thank you for the enquiry.

The 2021 eOne-Sixty and eOne-Forty both come with the larger 630wh battery (E8036). The only exception to this is the eOne-Sixty in the Extra Small and eOne-Forty in a size Small. The geometry of this size frame means that it can only accommodate the E8035. This smaller aperture in the frame wouldn’t be able to house the new larger E8036 battery.

I'd (mistakenly) assumed that the 500's all came with the 504Wh battery and the 700's and above came with the 630Wh one!

Back to the drawing board on decisions between models then (in a good way as the battery capacity was my biggest concern).

Has anyone any experience in changing the integrated headset for a standard one on the 20/21 models if so what’s available? Cheers

Looking for the same here. As I will run a different stem and spacer combo. So any input on the headset frame spec would be much appreciated. Hopefully it will take any of the Chris King integrated headsets.

Also if anyone knows the maximum seatpost insert on the eOneSixty Carbon 9000 size Large. Hopefully it can take a Fox Transfer 200mm at max insert (291.8mm + 28mm for the mechanism + cable attachment) for my size (185cm)

Thanks!

:)

There is absolutely no way the large frame will take a 200mm dropper when it barely takes the 170mm as is.

Thanks for the quick reply and input! :)

If anyone have any experience with other posts/brands with short insert and overall lengt, or maybe some of the adjusable ones like OneUp etc. it would be much appreciated.

I really appreciate having a slammed seat for jumping and doing maneuvers in the air etc, but still having a tall enough height when seated.

I have a Heckler size Large with a Reverb 175 now. And usually have to adjust the post insertion about 40-50mm up and down regarding of what type of riding Im doing, and sometimes a few times during a ride to get the most out of it.

If anyone have the actual available seat tube length for a dropper on the frame that would of course be perfect :)

Will be sure to post the numbers if I can source it elsewhere.

Thank you!

Just to add, as I got some more information now.
Thanks to @knut7 for measuring his 2020 Large frame, and giving feedback!

There seems to be approx. 210mm from the top of the collar to the bend in the frame.
The 2021 Large comes with a 170mm Merida Expert TR dropper. And I managed to find the actual measurements here:

So the 170mm has only 237mm max insert + 34mm for the mechanism.
So it should actually be able to insert quite close to the collar depending how the bend interacts with the post in the bottom.

To compare:

OneUp Dropper Post V2:
- 150mm = 237mm (minus 15mm for the mechanism)
- 180mm = 267mm (minus 15mm for the mechanism)

Fox Transfer 2021:
- 175mm = 261.6mm + 28mm for the mechanism
- 150mm = 230mm + 28mm for the mechanism

So in the end the stock original dropper seems to be the best option to start with, probably with a new remote.
Next would be to maybe try the OneUp 180mm, depending how high I would need to have the Expert TR 170mm from the collar to get the correct ride height. And even though it wont be possible to insert it all the way, it might still be a better option to get the most compact post overall. This post can also be shimmed down in case it will be to high in 180mm - but then Im back at 170mm anyway, but might still be a better option since the stack is super low. (Stack = from the bottom of the collar on the post to the center of rails)

The OneUp has a stack of 213mm in 180mm (same as Transfer 175mm) and a stack of 203mm shimmed down to 170mm drop.
And the Expert TR has a stack of 227mm in the 170mm version, so there is quite a big difference.

Hopefully this information will benefit some other looking for the same as well :)

Cheers!

Just wondering if anyone has put an offset set of head tube bearings into their 2019 900e yet. Thinking about giving it a go and wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of actual bearings to purchase and if it was worth the effort? Have previously tried the mullet option to slacken the head angle a bit but found it was more prone to skidding on in loose corners after that so was wanting to try out the bearing option. Cheers Steve

Does anybody know if the 630wh battery will fit in the 2021 e160 500?

Contemplating the 500 and then adding the larger battery at a later date, but wasn't sure if it will fit / is supported.
Doesn't the 2021 e160 come with the 630w battery in all but the size small bikes?

Has anyone upgraded the wheels on the 2021 e160? How did you fit the magnet to 6 bolt rotor hubs? My e160 has centre lock hubs with the magnet as part of the rotor (I think).
Is there a magnet that would fit onto the 6 bolt hubs (like hope fortus)? I've seem magnets for the levo, would they work? I'm not sure about the spacing.
Thanks.

Twas mentioned early on in this thread. Can't remember the post number though so you're up for a read. It did include a direct link though.

I don't think it can be done.

I was looking at it yesterday out of curiosity when I had my e160 Limited (504wh) up on the work stand and my wife was playing with the apps for her e160 700 (630wh).

The difference in battery length is significant, a good few inches. You can't move the top catch up in the frame as you wouldn't be able to release it. It looks like I have space below the battery fitment base but moving it down (if possible) would put it close to the motor and also more liable to water ingress.

Depends on which battery you have now. If you have the 8035 then no you can't upgrade. If you have the 8035-L then it's interchangeable with the 8036 as it's the same physical size.. Small and XS frames can't fit the 8036 and have an 8035 installed.

Will have a look when I'm home which battery I have. I have a medium frame so should be good there

Yeah I seen there is space to go down towards the motor as the space is filled with moto foam. You would think it would be possible tho as it's the same frame as the 700 but with different components and motor.

36T chainring fits the 2021/2020 frame instead of the 34T stock one?
Have to modify the MRP guide?

Hey guys, i have just purchased a e160 5000, its the carbon frame but with low spec components, one of the cost saving measures was the motor display/switch/power button.

I'm going to upgrade these back to the SC-EM800 and accompanying switch and power buttons but was hoping to be able to do the internal cable management to. Does anyone know what the parts are for trying to do this?

The bar is not a problem, just how they have gotten the motor display cable around the headset, Would it be as simple as trying to find the headset cover in the picture below, or is more going on here?

I am wondering this too. I have one 6-bolt wheel set and I glued small neodym magnet to Shimano RT-66 rotor (200mm). I have not ride yet, so I don't know will it hold... There is all kind of magnet adapters available, but I don't know the right size.

Quick question to 2021 carbon eOne-Sixty owners:
How many spacers on the head tube did your bike came with?

I'm looking at random images. Some seem to have 3x5mm, and some just one 1x2mm ). Most of my own bikes ( including road Merida ) came with at least 30mm of spacers.

It's critical for me as I'm going to use it with MacRide Child seat, that requires 10mm of space under the stem. And my dealer can't check that before I pay because of the ordering process ( Pay first, open the box after )

Completely different to my 9000, which has cable integration in the headset for the light etc. If the bike has the same headset (ie: the Lazeene light as standard) as mine then a completely new headset would be required to fit a child seat mount.

Gordon
Thank you! Is that because of not enough spacers or different spacer shape? The 8000 I'm shooting for comes with the light and shaped spacers, but the cables still seem to go into the frame Under the spacers, and the head tube is still round, so I guess I can replace a shaped spacer with the round one for the MacRide.
Or to the cables go thru the spacers too? I would really appreciate a close up picture of the 9000's headset spacers and cables.
