They all get customised don`t they ? After market parts manufacturers must rub their hands together every year when new Spesh bikes are announced . Yep , lots of upgrades coming up ! lol .

On a single crown mullet Kenevo conversion what travel or A2C are you guys suggesting? What is the resulting HA and BB?

Thanks a lot if you can answer.

Bumped up the fork travel to 180mm on mullet set up
I was afraid steering would get worse but to my surprise it’s way better
I rode is on some tight flow trails yesterday with the flip chip on high. It performed awesome
Rode today on steep tech with the flip chip on low and it was awesome too
Now i have to decide which to go with

tomorrow’s ride will have flow, chunky, steep and jumps. I’ll keep it on low and see how it goes. Bringing 1400wh’s with me. Turbo all the way!

Fox Float X2 arrives on Tuesday yee!

On mullet mode I will keep the flip chip high. When and if I switch to full 29" mode change the flip chip to low mode. Thinking no need to go shorter cranks.

You say you’ve increased the travel to 180mm ....I thought it came with that

Yes it came with a 180 boxxer
When I switched it to 38’s i used the 170mm fork from my enduro to try out a mullet set up
I figured with the increase of wheel size and the extra stack from the single crown 170mm/29er should be close to original geometry with 180mm/27.5

now with 180mm/29er, it looks to have the same height as a 203mm/27.5 when the bikes are side by side. Haven’t checked actual measurements or angles

I'm planning to by a 2021 Kenevo Comp

29er upfront with a reduction from the stock 180mm 27.5er to a 170mm 29er fork ... that would be the "option" I'd like to know to have if I'm not satisfied with a full 27.5 setup at my new Kenevo Comp.

The reduced fork travel should compensate a bit if the head angle gets too extreme?!
Flip Chip in "high" position could contribute to this too?! ..BB gets "super high" from these too steps??

What are your expreinces with the setup @rydeezie ?

i don't know why, but the 180mm/29er turns way better than with 170mm/29er
also my body position on the bike is more balanced. i felt i had too much weight forward with the 170
it's been 3 rides with new 180 set up and i like it better

the stock 180/27.5 set up is still a fun and playful ride
when park season returns i will convert the kenvo back to 27.5 but instead of the boxxer i will use the 38

@rydeezie ,I‘m really digging what you have done with your Kenevo. Looks like we ride the same trails. I have a Kenevo Comp that I want to mullet as well and am debating between going with a 170mm front and the x2 in 230x60 or going 180mm front with the X2 in 230x65 in the rear. Do you have an opinion on that?

Thanks in advance.

The grip2 dampener
I can also turn better on tight trails
Easier to pop up the front
Able to fit a 29er
Small bump sensitivity is better
Just as stiff

and now i have an x2 to match

I do like the 180mm better than the 170mm
Pic below shows both 170 180 side by side
I went with a 65mm stroke on the shock only because I already installed one on my buddies Kenevo and saw no clearance issues

So i said heck why not more travel

Sweet, thanks for the response. Yeah, I‘m leaning towards 180 and the bigger X2. What size frames have you tested the X2 in? I‘ve got an S3 and am worried about rub from the canister.

Thanks

I stand corrected

I stand corrected, i was curious to see if there was actual rub so we took all the air out and fully compressed the shock. It turns out the canister does rub at bottom out. We didn’t notice before because I guess we didn’t fully compress the shock completely

this is for the s3 with 230x65
My friend had to file the frame to clear
He filed a good amount off

sorry for the wrong info earlier

my x2 is a 57.5 and i just sent it in to fox to restroke to 65mm
I will call them first thing tomorrow to maybe go 62.5mm

No rub on the S4 but it is really really close
I was able to slide a card through to make sure the shock is not rubbing
I may file a little bit if i really have to. Not sure yet
I’m concerned it may rub if there is flex

Finally got change to install new fork and shock. Fox Factory 36 170mm and DPX2. Flip chip high mode, front 29 and rear 27,5.
In the summer I will then test rear 29 and flip chip low.

I already have fluorescent green stickers, but I will first look at whether those oranges fit

I un-mulleted mine again yesterday. For no particular reason than I was doing a lower boxxer service so thought I would refit the 27.5 lowers. Also upped the travel from 180 to 190.
I had intended to do back to back bikepark visits for a comparison. 29 yesterday and 27.5 today but unfortunately overnight rain made the conditions less than ideal so it wasn't a great comparison.
Still it rode great, super plush after a service. 😊
It's the low speed instability / steering flop in mullet mode I was interested in testing. I'm sure this is down to the 56mm offset on the 29 boxxers though.

I got a cheap clean 29” zeb 170mm off of a trek rail and swapped the lowers off my 27.5 zeb 180’s , bought a 29” Hope fortus 30 wheel and a fitted the mich enduro 2.4 tyre and a rimpact !
Rides amazing , climbs no different and wish I’d done it earlier. Can run the front at 14psi 😃

Head angle after Mullet conversion . Hi there interesting thread. I have a 2021 Kenevo expert which I converted to a mullet Fox factory 38 with 170mm travel. Front wheel is a DT SWISS 29 on Michelin DH 32. I put the flip chip in the heigh position. My question is has anyone actually worked out the head angle after the conversion. Mine looks so slaaaaack . I went as far as downloading a electronic spirit level on my ph. No I don't believe it accurate so I tried another two. All three said 61 degrees. Thoughts ????? Side note Bike is less stable at very slow speeds as the 29r wants to kinda flop over. Flip side its a total weapon on the steep stuff . Way better than the boxer select.

Single crown is +10mm
29er fork is +20
29er wheel is +20

170 is -10.

You added 40mm or -2 degrees

What about mine , single crown comp ?
29 fork is the same just the axle lower !
29 Wheel + 20
170 fork - 10
Added 10mm -1/2 degree or am I missing something

It's all about axle to crown. Original kenevo comp and expert have around 570mm a2c measurement.

Try putting a electronic level on the fork too see what the actual HT angle is.

29er lowers are +20mm longer than 27.5
Every 10mm ATC change is about -0.5 HTA.

Stock boxxer setup is 10mm shorter than the single crown.

Just realised that ! So it’s about 30mm and -1.5 degrees .
Still climbs well and rides better !
