Installed app, easy, seems to work.

Updated bikes firmware for syncdrive, ride control display and Bluetooth. All done smoothly albeit took some time. Be patient.

Allows you to adjust assist levels on all 5 settings. Very simply by setting % assist. It works.

Allows some simple diagnostics.

Allows a limited amount of tinkering with ride control display.

You can record your trip and view on Google maps etc.

First impressions, appears to work ok.

BTW it's backwards compatible, I'm using it on a 2018.

Creating your profile is easy until it asks for your age. Let's see...
clicking on the calendar how many times to get to 1956?
12 x 62 = 744 f%&$ing times!
I like that it shows exact battery percentage.
LOL. I didnt enter profile yet. 1962 so not far behind you.

TIP. You can select the year, you don't have to scroll back through all the months.

I install the app yesterday on ios. Wifes dirt 2018 updated with no problem. My full e 2018 is stuck in the dark after the update. The display does not turn on. I have try to remove the battery several times, but no success. I call the service and they have no idea. So i am stuck in the dark ;) Waiting for the answer from Giant. To bad for this Giant!!! Does someone have any idea how to bring the bike back to live? Regards!

Oh no... I was afraid of something like this!
Maybe try uninstalling the app, reboot your phone, re-install the app and try again?
Actually, if the display won't come on, I doubt that will help.

Grasping at straws here but ....
The little light button when pressed toggles the display thru , ON , DIM, OFF. Might be worth pressing it, just in case it's in off mode.

Long shot.

Thank you, but the app dont find the bike any more since the display is dead.

Did not notice. Hmmm... I've had no issues, but I heard of one person who supposedly bricked their bike trying a firmware update. I think it was a 2018 but don't remember the model.
There was no update available for my 2019 Fathom. Actually, now that I think of it, the only issue I had was that sometimes if I put it in the background to use the camera, the ride would finish but not save. Then again, a couple of times it was happy to be put in the background and back up front again.

Yeah I had a few problems saving rides. Seemed to be an issue when trying to save when connection is via mobile signal. Saving was ok when connected to Wi-Fi.

Dam pity, as I lost my data for those rides.

Can't even leave feedback now that app isnt on play store.

Navigation section still work in progress and I can live with that.

Hope they don't kill the app.

Though bricking the bike is worrying. My firmware upgrade took ages but worked

So there are issues with both the Giant Ride Control app and the Specialized Mission Control app.
I guess these apps are not so easy to get right.

Update from yesterday:
The display was replaced on service with the new one. They need the whole week to figure this out. Now the bike is working again. Service tested several updates on other Giant e-bikes and is was a common issue on some of them. So for now- no updates they say... Giant allready pull the app from the PlayStore. Sad but true ;)

Really glad to hear you're up and running again!
I'm just fine with waiting for a more stable app instead of more people with problems.

Might stop using it until new APP released. Defo won't use it while out on trail, I don't want it bricking miles from home.

I tried it on my 2018 Dirt-e Pro and it said I had a bluetooth update but it would never complete, local shop can't find their "dongle" to do the update...

Hi estoril
My update took a long time. The little progress circle took forever to turn blue but it eventually did. I say it took 45 mi s at least to update my bike.

Thanks Pottsy, mine actually errored out pretty quickly each time I tried and given that at least one bike has been bricked as a result I think I'll leave it alone for now!

It would be nice if Giant Customer Services would come along and comment on this thread.

I see Specialised have joined the forum and are responding to comments which is always good even if you don't agree at least you know they are listening.

It probably doesn't help that the forum is very Specialised focused. Not a critism as there are a lot of levos out there. But it might help if there was a Giant section listed instead of buried in the 'Other Manufacturer' section.

Any chance Admin could do that? I had asked in early days of forum.

Thanks

Hi Pottsy. If there were enough Giant owners we could create a sub forum ?
