Bosch crank puller

Just bought some new smaller crank arms on my rail 5 2020 what crank removal tool is needed and what’s people’s past experiences..

The one I got was part of a bundle of tools to remove the front sprocket on a Bosch Gen 2 motor (2019 Cube)

if you go to e-bike shop.co.uk you can get them there.

You will need a different too however if you have Active Line / Active Line PLUS Bosch motor as this has a smaller spline.

If it's the Bosch Gen 4 then you need Park Tool CCP-44.

(From personal experience I can tell you that ordering the CCP-22 is not a good idea ?‍)

Beware: that looks like a Park Tool CCP-22 which is NOT suitable for Bosch Gen 4 motors. That end bit is too small and disappears into the hollow axle without giving any purchase for the puller to work with.

I'm pretty sure that the 2020 Trek Rail 5 has a Gen 4 motor.

quite easy to strip the lockring as the teeth don’t go in very far. I find it better to lay the bike on its side and apply downward pressure while loosening the lockring.

I would NOT recommend using e-bikeshop , unhelpful and will only sell to you if you have purchased the bike from them.

Tried that lock-ring tool... Don't bother with it.
The teeth aren't very deep so they'll jump out because of how wide the engagement is and just strip the holes.
Here's the solution you need... String
Or light rope ... I happen to have a lot of kite line lying around.
Tie a bent bar or spanner to the lock-ring
Lash it down tight avoiding the crank in the center.
works easy and you don't need to spend anything.

Even better... I serviced the gearbox by cleaning up the grease and circuit.
Cleaning the gears and re-greasing.
Easy
Error codes vanished.
rides fine again (Admittedly still got a little resistance and noise ... give it a few months)

nice one.
With the bike vertical I was stripping the teeth but horizontal and pushing down as I turned seemed to work. I regularly replace the plastic bearing seal and felt crankshaft seal and grease with the green Bosch tacky grease.

I’ve also got the service kit which replaces the main components which wear out. I’m just keeping it spare for the future.
