I just converted my front rotor on my 2019 S-Works from 200mm to 220mm. It took some research to get the conversion right so I wanted to share what I did.

220mm Rotor: SRAM CenterLine 220mm 6-bolt Disc Rotor with Rounded Edge

40mm Adapter: Avid/SRAM Disc 40mm Post-Mount Adaptor, Fits 200mm Front and 180mm Rear Rotors

The adapter converts the 180mm post mount on the fork to 220mm. The bike came with a 20mm adapter for the standard 200mm. If your fork is a 180mm post mount then the 40mm adapter will be the right size for the 220mm rotor.
The adapter comes with the screws to mount the itself to the fork but does not include the screws to mount the caliper to the adapter. I measured carefully and bought some M6-1.00 30mm stainless steel hex head cap screws. The size was perfect. The adapter threads were completely filled with screw without any excess.

On my first ride today I spent much of my time getting the rotor bedded in. After that the brake felt great. The brake is noticeably stronger and the bike is more in control on very steep descents. I expect it to get a bit stronger as it continues to bed in.

Great, I'm also considering exact same thing on my TL Comp ... Have you also replaced the brake pads? I've heard organic pads are a way to go ...

Magura has a 220? I just pu a pair of MT7 pro’s, but with a 200 rotors. Id like to go 220 in the front, the rear doesnt need a 220 imo.

Hi ted have you any pics of you’re 220mm rotor mounted with your adapter plate?wont the previous bolts work to fasten on the Caliper to the new 40mm adapter?its ok I’m easily confused ? and I’ve just ordered the same.

Hmm strange, when I measured the current bolt length with cup washers on both sides of the caliper hole and 40mm adapter height, I calculated the M6 bolt should be 35mm long to completely fill in the adapter hole. Are you sure that you have properly mounted the caliper? Picture will help ...
Anyway what is the length of a M6 bolts which came with 40mm adapter (to mount the adapter to fork)?

Here is my setup. It is working just fine but there is a chance that I have not installed it correctly. One pic shows the adapter I am using. Note that there is another type that just consists of spacers. The rounded head bolts came on the bike. The knurled bolts are the 30mm M6. The other pic shows that the 30mm bolt just fills the threads on the adapter. I only have the cupped washers on one side so 30mm works for me. With cupped washers on both sides 35mm may be correct but the spacing to the rotor may not be correct.. Since the bolts are lock tighted in I did not want to take things apart to measure the length of the original bolts.
Let me know if I have screwed something up.

Huh, this now confuses me even more. AFAIK cupped washers should be on both sides of caliper holes (to have proper caliper to rotor aligment function) but from your picture it looks like the radial position of the caliper is about right (judging by traction marks on rotor) and adding washers will probably lift the caliper too much. Did the S-Works came originally (with 20mm adapter and 200mm rotor) with cupped washers only on one side? If yes, then your 220mm assembly is apparentelly spot on, but I guess mine will need washers on both sides of the caliper (I have TL Comp 2020 with Guide RE calipers) as I now have them with original 20mm adapter.

EDIT: Just found hi-res photo of S-Works and it looks like cupped washers are only on one side ...

looks spot on to me!cheers buddy ?my back calliper on my new sx meta power has as similar mounting as yours though that doesn’t have the cupped washers.

Luckily I have just came across this SRAM CALIPER MOUNTING SPECIFICATIONS document, which nicely explains all my and maybe even your questions about which adapter and bolts are right for your SRAM brakes ...

Mine was originally the 20p mounting (the same as teds original setup,the 40p shows like teds but without the cps washers so I suppose amalgamation of the two teds setup is right,looking at these cps washers though there only for if the bolt isn’t square to the mounting face it’s fastening too,I’m going to do the same as teds setup but try without them after without..as my rear 200mm frame mount is the same as 40p in the illustration ?

Today I finally upgraded the front rotor to 220mm. Used two stainless steel allen head M6x20 bolts to mount adapter to the fork and two M6x35 bolts (also M6x30 is enough per specification, but 35mm nicely fills the hole to avoid mud to go in) to mount caliper to the adapter, usage of cup washers is requred for Guide RE (as per any other CPS caliper) as you see even with washers the caliper body touches the middle of adapter ... Also replaced the pads for organic Kool-Stop pads. Today I only bedded-in the rotor, tomorrow is the first ride ....

just fitted mine and took all of 15 mins,thanks ted for you’re heads up?I used 6x30 stainless cap heads which we had a work though I’ve put plenty of grease on the threads because stainless and alloy can get groovy together?

Looks like you already have the 40p adapter on you’re Caliper running the disc you have now as the fork mounts look shorter,I’m sure you’ll find some spacers to bring it out though.?

I would check with Rocksox that the Sektortor can take a 220mm disc - it will physically fit, but I would check the fork is rated for it, even on my Lyric Ultimate I immediately noticed that the extra power of the brake with a 220mm rotor causes the fork to flex more under heavy braking
Yes I noticed this today once mine had bedded in,really happy with the stopping power now though with base code r‘s and pads with the 220mm rotor upfront,set the pistons closer too so I have hardly any throw before the bite.

“so I have hardly any throw before the bite”. Is there a difference in the thickness of the larger rotor vs the stock?

Yes buddy what salko said 2mm thickness,I had to advance the rear brake pistons by taking the wheel out and pressing the brake lever slightly to get the same feel?

had to steal some 17mm bolts from the dirt jumper to mount the caliper. bolts on order, wish i knew before i started.

I have a 2020 Kenevo and want the 220 rotor. I am confused by the posts thus far. Can anyone tell me what adapter I would need to run this on my Boxxer Select?
