I really like this bike and I really wish I could sell it. The YT Decoy would be perfection with a better motor, but the E8000 has let another rider down.

The motor broke

They all do

hope this helps

Yeah, that's pretty obvious, but how did it break? Any errors etc? and how quick is "that did not take long" As I'm unfamiliar with that unit of time

Does anyone know if you take the motor out and replace it with an E8000 > normal crank mount from aliexpress, does that leave space in the motor area for a water bottle ?

Probably not, but I believe you would be able to cram a camelbak bladder in there

please tell me this is actually a thing Zimz?

Sorry no .. I was being cruel because you've asked about it before and said it was something you wanted .. I was almost really cruel and posted a false aliexpress link to really get you frustrated ! :-) It's REVENGE for your obscenely clever humour in the other post !

But you think someone would make one .. it literally would be a standard 4/6 bolt frame, I'd say make it simple and have 4 bolts as there would be less torque and it's simpler and then make it to take a normal BB, ideally one which would take the e8000 cranks. Hell, I bet someone could 3d print one, just might not be strong enough round the bolt mounts, but you could make the print a tube between the bolt mounts and have a through bolt. So if it was aly, it's a little box so it has structural rigidity in all directions. Uses 4 of the existing bolt mounts and takes a standard BB. Viola, temporary replacement for any e7000/e8000 ..

If you had a complete intact BB ground off an existing bike and you knew someone with a tig welder, had a removed E-8000 motor to use as a template, you could probably get one knocked in a few minutes. Assuming the BB was wide enough to clear everything ?? could this be where it would get complicated ??

hopefully in finest chinese Ali express grade carbon ;)

I actually have a mate with a CNC machine who I'm fairly sure would make me a BB shell I could bolt on.
I already have 7 perfectly good other non-Ebikes though. (I recently gave a few away)

That might be the easier way !! But it's the principle ..

Anyway, as you personally have broken more Shimano motors than anyone on the planet, it seems only reasonable that you should invent, sell and profit from the sale of "Gary's" the temporary E8000 bottom bracket solution .. available from Chain Reaction cycles with 5% off ..

That's a plan ;) forget the internal waterbottle mount though. I could stick a rampant rabbit mount in there for "realistic" motor sounds while the replacement BB is genuinely being fucked ;)

Ok, but you'd have to sell an adaptor so it could connect to the existing Shimano battery .. Then re-badge stepsunlocker as rabbitunlocker .. lady's (and possibly others) would be in their element once they realise they can hack their euro rabbit to the much faster us spec rabbit when it's connected to the bike. .

I'm not sure we've taken this joke far enough
is it time for the dildo seatpost Gif yet?

I'm not sure .. I've generally been of the view that there's no such things as too far :-)

But I got my first "crap post" tonight .. so I guess there is ! :-) humbug ..

Mine still running. It's about the motor, not the bike. I wonder if Shimano QA is suffering from a high demand (just like deliveries of new bikes) or if there are fundamental design issues with the motor
