2020 Specialized levo/kenevo rumors?

I guess it depends on your riding style and where you ride really.
Since putting dual crown 29 on my Kenevo and longer rear shock my bike has transformed. Up, down or sideways, it’s just perfect for me now. Yeah it’s a heavy pig but it is so stable and bullet proof now that I could never go back. I can still throw it around like any other bike but yes it does require a little more muscle. Not a problem for me though.
I really don’t know why people complain about the Kenevo. It’s a big travel enduro bike designed for taking big hits. It’s not an all mountain sight seeing bike, although I have done all that with ease.
The Levo is your all mountain variant.

What kind of trails do you guys ride to hate on the Kenevo??? I’m seriously confused.
I love my Kenevo, but I have super technical twisty climbs everywhere I ride. If I was climbing fire roads a dual crown would be fine. But on the switchbacks I feel like I am driving a big rig. If it works for you it works for you, it doesn’t mean it will work for everyone else.

I totally understand but if that’s the kind of terrain you ride, why did you buy a Kenevo?
Would a Levo have not been more suitable?

I bought my Kenevo thinking it would be a pig in the tight technical stuff and a Downhill bomber everywhere else as that’s my prefer choice of riding.
To be honest I was pleasantly surprised how good it is for 99% of the riding I’ve done to date. For me I found it was just good everywhere. I have only ridden a couple of tracks where I found it was a bit heavy and very right to manoeuvre around but that was two tracks out of 10 in that park and I found it a fun challenge to get around.
Definitely wasn’t annoyed or upset as it was what I had expected of a 180mm travel heavy enduro bike.
 
I had an idea what the new Kenevo would look like so I bought a hardly used 2019. I really feel the current Kenevo is just a long travel trail bike climbs fantastically tight hair pin up and down easy, can use it like an XC bike if you want. I don't feel the travel till I blast through terrain that makes me cringe or a get out of shape on a jump then I always go holy hell this bike can take a beating. My style is more balls than skill so travel is my friend. I have kept my order for the new one however and will see.
I have a few friends that took base Levo's and changed the brakes, 160mm fork, rear coil and will say tricked its a hell of a bike.

I don't really understand the need for tripple clamps on an ebike - or in the UK really. Anywhere you need a DH bike has ski lifts
I just like the fact that there are now bikes out there with this option for those that want it, and that Specilized have seen how many people have put dual crown forks on the old Kenevo and take note.
 
If they want to improve on the existing one and toughen things up a bit, it's got to be Steel ! :)
Steel may be real, but I’m sure the new Kenevo will be a 3D printed indestructable polymer developed by NASA. Once you see the price, you’ll know for sure they have used such material.

Haha that’s awesome! Good for you! I almost bought and Levo a few months back but i spent it on mods instead.

We have had rumours of £6,000 ($7500) here in the UK.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the new and exciting 2020 Levo range, to answer your questions, simply what you can see now is what will be available for this model year. The Comp Carbon is a bike that we identified as a price or specification that was not in as much demand in 2019 as we thought it would be, so based off of customer feedback, most people were more interested in the bigger batter expert or the more affordable alloy frame.

Regarding the Levo frame, this is not something that we will be doing in the UK, there are only a few markets that have the frame globally, this again was a decision driven from customer feedback. That being said we have had more interest since the frame has launched in other markets, we unfortunately will not be able to react this model year, however things could change in future model years due to this feedback.

So no 2020 Carbon comp bike or s-works frameset only option will not be available to UK customers

The alloy 2020 comp comes with the 700wh battery, only the entry level levo comes with the 500wh battery

So the new one could be close .. Might surprise the world and release it at Hardline this weekend ridden by @Kiwi in Wales ! - Is there something you're not telling us ? :-)

Though if you were being clever, you'd run a parallel e-bike event at Rampage and call it "Ampage Rampage" ! - You'd have to ride back up again...
 
FYI I was speaking to someone who know someone who knows someone and they where saying that the newer Brose Mag motor has had a significantly lower warranty rate (excluding the early noise issue affected ones) than the older model motors used in the current Kenevo and older Levo's. Might influence someones purchasing decisions.

Fast flow trails. Not sure if it's lack of familiarity, but the kenevo feels heavy on flow trails. Love it otherwise thou, it's close to the perfect bike for me.
 
Brose Mag motor has had a significantly lower warranty rate
I take it the 2.1 is interchangeable with the 1.2 and the 1.3 ? (with relevant firmware updates to the battery side) So down the line as they stop producing/run out of stock of the 1.2/1.3 they'll just swap in 2.1's (excluding all the re-manufactured 1.2's & 1.3's), though at some point the economics are going to make it cheaper to move to 2.1's ?! and dump the legacy motors ?

Unless they want to mount the motor completely differently and change the current draw from the battery, then there's no reason a 2.2 3.1 or whatever shouldn't also be backwards compatible ?
 
I dont think they are - the older motors are still in production, just used in lower cost bikes now

I'm sure I read a thread here somewhere of someone having their 1.3 upgraded to a 2.1 .. but then it could have been a fairy tail ... Presumably at the same time they've not just stuck their heads in the sand and carried on producing motors with faults. The 1.2 & 1.3 would of have incremental development changes made to them, or they'd just be throwing money away replacing motors for the same known faults.
 
As far as I know they are not compatible. The new one is slightly smaller (so that shouldn’t be the issue if the crank axle is positioned similar) but the mounting is Different. But don’t nail me down on this, haven’t tried myself.

If you look at the pictures (highly scientific) they look the same, it's just as if they moved all the casing more inboard to reduce weight and size, so more could in theory be squashed around it - but using the same mounting positions ..

But I am only working from some picture images in my head , so could be complete tosh.
 
I took my 2019 Levo Expert in for its 8 week service today.
Asked a few questions about the 2020 Kenevo.
I no longer own a Levo waiting on the Kenevo release ?

They are not interchangeable, they use completely different bolt mounting patterns

It will arrive just in time for a few rides before the highly anticipated 2021 Levo next September.
