Hi - took my e-summet out for the first time yesterday! Was having a great time and then when pedalling uphill (fairly gentle slope) the assist kept dropping out - I played around in the different modes and gears but it wouldn’t resolve - switched on-off same problem. Bike is pretty heavy the pedal uphill!!

Any advice???

Adjusted mine yesterday on a new VR.
There was 1-2mm play at the top of the battery holder/lock end. Worth checking.
Bit of locktite on the 2 silver bolts under the black cover and you're away.

If you are getting power, but no assistance, it may be that the spoke magnet needs realigning with the speed sensor on the chain stay - this is quite a common issue as if the spoke magnet has come loose it may move, and the sensor won't pick it up, meaning the motor won't supply assistance.
