EMTB Forums verdict

The Scott Strike eRIDE 2025 is the more affordable trail-focused stablemate of the Genius eRIDE, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor (85 Nm, 250 W rated, 600 W peak, 2.9 kg) and a removable 625 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery. Frame is Scott's Strike eRIDE Alloy (carbon variant also offered) with Virtual 4-Link kinematics, 150 mm of travel front and rear, and TwinLoc multi-mode suspension. Head angle is 64.5°, claimed weight 24.3 kg, and UK base price opens at £4,999. The community has historically rated the Strike eRIDE as a sensible value play in Scott's lineup, although note this gold spec lists the older Gen 4 motor — riders should confirm Gen 4 vs Gen 5 with their dealer, as the platform straddled the motor transition during the 2024-2025 model year.

Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 4 is the previous-generation Bosch unit, producing 85 Nm of torque and 600 W peak power. While now superseded by the Gen 5 (120 Nm), Gen 4 remains a proven, refined motor with the full Smart System ecosystem — Kiox display, Flow app integration and over-the-air firmware updates. The 625 Wh PowerTube is the same battery fitted to the Genius eRIDE, removable for off-bike charging. The frame has a dedicated Range Booster mount accepting an optional 500 Wh extender, taking effective capacity to 1,125 Wh — a meaningful option for big-day riders. Expect 900-1,300 m of climbing per charge on the standard pack.

Geometry and handling. The Strike eRIDE shares the Genius eRIDE's geometry numbers exactly: 64.5° head angle, reach S 435 mm to XL 510 mm, chainstay 455 mm fixed, wheelbase 1,255-1,330 mm. The difference between Strike and Genius is in the suspension tuning and component spec rather than frame architecture. 29in wheels with clearance for 2.6in rubber, Boost 148x12 mm UDH rear axle and 1.8in tapered head tube — the wider 1.8in head tube is unusual and complicates aftermarket fork swaps as @Norty documents: upgrading to a RockShox Zeb Ultimate "required custom crown race and bearing adapter. Used Specialized bearing GPBHS454556865".

Build and value. The £4,999 base trim runs RockShox 35 TK 150 mm fork, X-Fusion Nude eRIDE 150 mm shock with TwinLoc, Shimano BR-MT520 four-piston brakes and Shimano Deore M6100 12-speed. Higher trims step up to Fox 36 Float Rhythm forks, Fox Float EVOL eRIDE Trunnion shocks and Shimano XT components. @Norty shows the upgrade path is well-trodden: many owners replace the stock 140 mm Marzocchi Z2 Air fork on the entry trim with a RockShox Zeb 160 mm for proper enduro capability. @brbr also notes the stock 185x50 mm shock can be swapped for a 185x55 mm unit giving 5 mm more rear travel.

Community-verified strengths. The TwinLoc multi-mode suspension is genuinely useful on long climbs, allowing riders to switch the rear shock between full open, traction control and locked-out with a single bar lever. The 1,125 Wh dual-battery option via Range Booster is one of the largest effective capacities available. Scott's Bosch CX Gen 4 motor has demonstrated excellent longevity on the Genius platform — a relevant data point given the Strike shares the same motor.

Caveats and known gripes. The 1.8in head tube limits fork upgrade paths — @Norty's custom-bearing solution works but is fiddly. The Bosch CX Gen 4 motor is now mid-pack against the latest 120 Nm Gen 5 and DJI Avinox; buyers who can afford the price step should verify which motor is in current stock. @ozzybmx warns the Gen 4 motor's "spider/motor interface teeth can strip from pedal strikes" — a known wear path. At 24.3 kg the Strike eRIDE is mid-pack rather than light. Stock entry-trim Marzocchi Z2 Air fork at only 140 mm is underspecced for the bike's 150 mm rear and 64.5° head angle — owners typically upgrade. The 625 Wh battery is smaller than 750-800 Wh rivals at the price.

Verdict. The Strike eRIDE is for the rider who wants Scott's proven chassis, TwinLoc suspension and Bosch ecosystem at a sharper £4,999 entry, with a clear upgrade path through stem, fork and shock swaps. It is not for buyers who want the latest CX Gen 5 motor by default, riders who hate the 1.8in head tube fork-fitment complications, or anyone looking for sub-22 kg weight. Production status is current and Scott dealers stock the platform globally.
