Looking for Trek Rail kind of cost-effective full suspension eMTB and the Scott eRide Strike seems to fill the current requirements

Why Strike:
- The ergonomy is a bit more relaxed than in Genius model.
- Availability

- Nice paintjob (this time most important..)
- Bosch Performance CX Gen 4 motor with 625wh battery = Not the newest but quite reliable from my experience
- Bosch Purion is what it is but maybe there's not much need for better integration.
- 140/140mm travel is enough for slow and comfort travelling
- Marzocchi Z2 Air / FOX Float EVOL Performace Trunnion = Quite okay at this pricepoint and maybe self serviceable
- Shimano BR-MT520 4 Piston brakes seem to be also decent

The bike is for my wife for relaxed easygoing touring. I prefer EMTB over normal touring bike as it covers more use cases and the electricity makes rolling resistance of wider tires doable.

Any notes that I should take care of?

The price seems to be around 5300 -5500 euros.

So... I bought one (in S size) for my wife as well and... she don't like it :/ - yep, thats the truth. In general, all you wrote is correct, the bike itself is IMO great, I did a few rides on it by myself and it is very capable as well, not far off from eGenius, but for my wife weight is the main issue. My wife is skinny / fitness type and said, that Orbea would be much better (we're talking about the lightest version). So if you can - try the bike before you buy it.

PS. It's good that I have 2 sons and the younger one, who is almost 10 at the moment loves the bike and thanks to it he can keep up with me and his older brother ;)

I have had Strike 920 since November having upgraded from a Cube ebike hardtail. I spent months reviewing so many ebikes. I am more than happy with the strike, I use it mostly for days out on moors tracks forest fire trails around North Yorks moors and Dalby forest. The bike setup is perfect for this type of touring/exploring, I use the seat dropper and suspension lock out. All in all a perfect buy

Just wanted to add, that SCOTT offers "Contessa" model, specified with woman in mind. This bike has normal Strike frame and narrower handlebar with comfortable grips and wider seat. IMO it is worth considering when buying the bike for your wife. Overall in my wifes Contessa I just fitted 160mm front fork which lifts the handlebar a bit and makes the bike even more comfortable. Here it is:

Contessa is also option, but... it just seems to be...how would I say it: all about the color 😂

My beaten Trek Rail would look a little poor on side and that's a potentially an expensive issue

I've got a Strike 930 in Large. I like it a lot but it is a big heavy bike. I've taken it on a train a couple of times and it's just a bit too big for that really. It's two metres long and storage is an issue, though I think that applies to any modern emtb with 29 inch wheels. I use mine as a xc adventure type bike on the roads, trails and bridleways around here and tbh it's probably overkill for that application but eats up the terrain and is really comfortable. I've upgraded the Purion controller to the Nyon, added mudguards for the winter and a kickstand. Other than that it's vanilla.

I know what you mean re large and heavy, I am a pretty big bloke 6.1 and 14 stone but fallen off a couple of times when I have been slow speed maneuvering, this has put me off an upgrade to the purion as worried about damage if I come off (again) I have SKS mudrocker mudguards and love them they complement the bike in my eyes)

those mudguards do look good. I see that you went for the kickstand too. I think that's one of the best things I fitted to mine.

Could you tell me which kickstand that is?

Strangely enough my local vendor told me one cannot fit a kickstand to this bike, very happy to see he was wrong.

Thanks! Good to know.
After some more googling I also found this: SYNCROS Fully E-MTB 2 bolts Kickstand (scott-sports.com) which seems to have the same screw pattern, although it doesn't mention the Strike in the description..

That looks identical to the one I have. The picture on the Westbrook's site isn't that great, particularly the colour (it's black not red!) but it is the right model. The Genius and Strike frames are almost identical, with the screw points in the same places so if you find a stand that fits the Genius, it will fit fit the Strike too

I would try Westbrooks as I got my cycle and kickstand stand from there, photos below, it has suffered a couple of rocks strikes but not enough to cause any problems and if anything it protects the brake disk, plus the fact I don't have to lays it down is a massive bonus

I'm starting to think that the 5300 euros price for 625wh battery with Purion controller is a little on pricy side if you compare it to Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC 750 at 4999 price tag (Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC SL 750 27.5 polarsilver n orange 2022 - E-Bike Fully Mountainbike)

Of course... the color isn't even near the same :poop:
Oh come on. It took me weeks to decide on the Strike 920 and here you are making me think I made the wrong decision, the 750 battery is going to make days out a lot longer, its a fine looking bike with some good specs, no no no stop the Scott Strike is enough for me

Plus the Kiox controller worries me, I have came off 3 times now and on 2 of those the Kiox would I believe been damaged whereas the Purion location size and ruggedness has so far (touch wood) protected it

No kidding! I picked my Strike 920 up in January and I've been simply stunned with how much assist one 625 Wh battery can give my aging 210 lbs. (95 Kg) frame! Going up steep hills on Turbo, I barely need to pedal, it just rips right up them! And it goes and goes like the Energizer Bunny! I've not even come close to wearing it out. I put it to "Tour" on the flats and downhills or I'm bumping against the speed limiter pretty quickly.

I thought I was going to have to use max assist more sparingly than I do. As long as you are willing to pedal more than a fake amount just to activate it, you can go far. It might help that I tend to run higher tire pressure than most and it comes with reasonably efficient trail tires (even if they are 2.6" wide).

Prices have gone down. The cheapest seem to be around 4300 - 4400 euros. I wonder when there's new models coming with 750wh smart system.

The specs and photos for the new Strike have been released, frame is based on the Patron (rear shock hidden in frame) but with a 750 battery they start at £6100. I love my Scott strike but the revised price even for a 750 battery isn't that competitive with other makes.

I have a MudRocker on the rear of my Scott Strike eRide and it's a bit pricey but totally worth it for it's function and well-thoughtout design. It fits like it was made for the bike and stays put.

On the front I have a Muckynutz and it pretty much sucks. The plastic is too flimsy (not stiff enough) and the method of attachment is not good (the attachment points are too close together to control the fender properly).

I would not buy another one of these even though it was very inexpensive. I love the MudRocker on the rear, it's very well engineered and fits the Strike with my 29" wheels perfectly (not too close or two far away). For a fender it looks pretty good too.
