EMTB Forums verdict

The Merida eONE-SIXTY 2025 is a long-travel carbon enduro eMTB with a unique 170 mm front and 174 mm rear travel signature, powered by Shimano's latest EP801 motor and a 600 Wh removable battery. Headline numbers: 22.2 kg claimed weight on the top CF 10K trim, a 64 to 64.4 degree size-tuned head angle and reach progressing from 433 mm on S to 525 mm on XL across an exceptionally deep nine-trim range. The community framing is positive: @Mr Scooter describes the chassis as "handles beautifully" and worth waiting for, with a long-running owner-engagement thread spanning multiple generations.

Drive system and range. Shimano EP801 brings 85 Nm of torque, 250 W nominal and a manufacturer-claimed 600 W peak from a 2.7 kg motor. The Shimano EN806 600 Wh battery is removable. @Blokie notes the prior generation eOne-Sixty (and eOne-Forty) used the 630 Wh BT-E8036 pack, so the 2025 step to the 600 Wh EN806 is a marginal capacity trade for newer battery chemistry. EP801 modulation is well-regarded for tight switchbacks: @Astro66 ran one for 500 km without issue before resale. @RoJo shares a useful tip from prior-generation owners: enduro straps around the battery on big drops, to stop the system briefly shutting off during impact.

Geometry and handling. A 64 to 64.4 degree head angle (slightly steeper on smaller sizes) is bang-on modern enduro. The 446 to 453 mm size-tuned chainstay is a genuine win, growing from 446 mm on S to 453 mm on XL. Reach progression is unusual: the 2025 chassis offers multiple reach options per nominal size (S at 433 or 450 mm, M at 456 or 475 mm, L progressing similarly), supporting a "fit-not-frame" approach common on Merida's recent enduro releases. Wheelbase 1218 to 1325 mm. @Carlos Muralhas documents the mullet-to-full-29er swap done on the prior generation, with the front-29 upgrade unanimously praised.

Build and value. Nine trims is exceptional and lets riders dial price precisely. The 300 at £4799 is the entry trim. The 475 and 675 at £5499 to £5500. The LITE 750 at £5500 is the lightweight pick at 24 kg. The 725 at £7499 sits mid-range. The 875 at £8499. The base "CF" at £10500, 22.2 kg, matches the CF 10K headline trim. Top of the range is the 10K at £11999. The eONE-SIXTY also has a derestriction history: @Astro66's prior 2025 400 example was derestricted before resale (note: motor derestriction is generally illegal in most jurisdictions and voids warranty).

Community-verified strengths. Three things owners praise. The chassis handling: @Mr Scooter ranks the eONE-SIXTY ahead of the Levo, Trek Rail, Commencal 29 and Pivot for ride feel. The depth of the trim range gives buyers genuine choice: from £4799 alloy 300 to £11999 carbon 10K, all on the same chassis. And the long-running owner community is well-documented, with extensive spec deep-dives covering everything from precise headset chamfer measurements (Merida 1901: 52 mm OD, 40 mm ID, 7 mm deep, 36 degree inside, 45 degree outside) to swingarm bearing specs (6800V-2RS 19D x 10D x 5W).

Caveats and known gripes. Three honest flags. @Re-Cycle reports that accessing internal cables on the prior generation requires removing the motor itself, and notes "very little protection" around the motor area: a workshop friction point that may persist. @webman documents that the prior medium frame had a Fox Transfer 150 mm seatpost maximum insertion depth of 222.5 mm, which constrains dropper choices. And depreciation is steep on eMTBs generally: @Astro66 reports a 30 per cent drop on wheeling out of the shop, with the prior 400 resold at 60 per cent of new price after 9 months and 500 km.

Verdict. The eONE-SIXTY 2025 is for the rider who wants a properly-tuned carbon enduro chassis with size-tuned chainstays, modern slack geometry, the latest Shimano EP801 motor and the broadest price spread on any single platform (£4799 to £11999). Riders prioritising bigger 700 Wh+ batteries or a slicker motor-removal pathway should look at a Canyon Torque:ON or Cannondale Moterra LT. Production status is current.
