eONE-SIXTY 400 - MERIDA BIKES

Bike / Product Year: 2025
Manufacturer: Merida
Model: E160 400

Size Medium
Asking Price: AUD$3900
Location Sydney City (Clovelly)

Description Immaculately presented 2025 Merida E160 400 EMTB, with Shimano EP801 Motor that has been derestricted. Only 500km. Size Medium.

The transmission has been fully upgraded to Deore XT 12speed Di2 Electronic Transmission. It comes with Coastshift, where you can shift gears without pedalling. It also has the upgraded EM800 display.

It comes with the standard Rock Shox suspension package of a 160mm Rock Shock Psylo Silver R Fork and 150mm Rock Shock Deluxe rear shock.

Graphic have been upgraded. It's a beautiful bike in Red and Gold.

Would suit a new buyer looking to save a several thousand dollars, whilst still having a 15 month warranty with 99 bikes.

I bought and built this bike as a spare, because I bought an Amflow. But both the Amflow and support for it have been immaculate. As a result. The bike is rarely ridden so it's time to go.

You can see the full Merida bike build if you wish in the Amflow build thread I created. Link below.

Amflow PL Carbon Pro Dream Build. The Liberace Edition.

Sold immediately. AUD$3400. Paid $4700. Spent $800 on upgrades. So the EMTB market is not too bad in Australia.

(IMO) the remaining 15 month transferable warranty was the key factor in selling the bike so quickly ...
That, and the fact the bike really stood out from the sea of other 2nd hand EMTBs for sale.

I put it on Facebook Marketplace as well as Ebay and here, and Facebook swamped me with offers. Sure some were lowballs. But I had 3 offers for $3K, which is where I started with the buyer. And after viewing and testing the bike. I was able to talk them up $400, based purely on the fact, this guy loved the graphics and upgrades. He literally said all the other bikes were so Vanilla.

So, I know I get some criticism for my graphics. But when it comes time to sell. Whilst some will say it's not their taste. When you get someone who wants a bike that is a little different to the sea of other offerings. They will pay a premium for that, if you negotiate nicely with them.

Anyway. That has just been my experience.

So the bike as sold new. Very Vanilla.

Still losing circa 40% value in 9 months isin't great but sadly that is the fast moving world of EMTB.

Glad you got a quick sale and didn't have to deal with too many tyre kickers. I'm looking at moving on my Fuel Ex-E and had a NZ National DH rider come have a look for his partner. Nice dealing with someone who knows a bikes value

Sure. But you lose 30% the second you wheel an EMTB out of the shop. These are off road, run super hard in poor conditions vehicles. And some of the upgrades like the new hubs and cassette, you will never recover what you spend on them, as they are seen as consumables.

Also. I sold this in 24hrs after being inundated in offers. I could have held out for a few more hundred dollars, by waiting. But I lost so much time yesterday dealing with all the interest generated by offering the bike at a good price. And my time is much more valuable.

So when a really nice young guy came around. Super polite. Really respectful, and just had a huge passion for MTB. I felt good selling it to him at $3400, and he paid cash on the spot and took it away immediately. No more time wasted dealing with some of the Numpties that selling creates.

Having to sell your EMTB is one of the downsides of owning one. I'm in the sport for the head clearing experience. And dealing with the general public in a selling situation, is as far from head clearing as you can get. 😂

Nice dealing with someone who knows a bikes value
At AUD$4700 brand new, the Merida E160 400 is pretty much the cheapest 160/160 EMTB available in Australia. It was just a spare incase the Amflow broke down. So I was dealing with lots of Numpties. It's not fun.
