Bosch CX Gen 5 / Pinion MGU 800Wh all-mountain eMTB

The Haibike AllMtn 2025 is an aluminium all-mountain eMTB available across four trims, with the headline build using the Pinion MGU E1.12 gearbox motor and a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Headline numbers: 85 Nm of torque, 800 Wh removable battery, 160 mm of travel front and rear, a 64.0 to 64.5 degree head angle, 25.0 kg claimed and £4,799 base. The community read so far is that the Pinion-equipped CF 10 TRN/IQ trim is "eerily quiet" on descents, with a Gen Z-level 600% gear range, balanced by some warning notes about the high-pivot idler pulley in muddy conditions.
Drive system and range. The Pinion MGU E1.12 sits at the heart of the headline build: 85 Nm of torque, 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak, and a 4.1 kg motor weight that places it on the heavier end of the spectrum. The trade-off is the gearbox-integrated 12-speed transmission with a 600% range, eliminating the rear derailleur and cassette. border304 notes the bike "weighs close to 25 kg, the rear end is surprisingly playful, and the bike is eerily quiet when coasting or descending. Best to ease off pedal load when shifting between gears 4-5 and 8-9". The 800 Wh battery is removable, and slickrock notes Rob himself put the AllMtn CF 10 through "some of the most brutal testing grounds I've seen" with strong suspension feedback. The Pinion's "huge 600% ratio" helps offset the gearbox noise in the lowest four gears.
Geometry and handling. The AllMtn comes in four physical sizes (S, M, L, XL) with reach progressing from 420 mm to 515 mm. The head angle floats between 64.0 and 64.5 degrees, the chainstay grows from 440 mm to 455 mm across sizes, and the wheelbase stretches from 1,200 mm to 1,325 mm. The geometry is modern all-mountain rather than the gentle-trail bike of older Haibikes — slack head angles, longer reach progression and progressive chainstay growth. The Pinion gearbox's central, low mass placement helps overall handling balance, giving a low centre-of-gravity feel that border304 confirms with the "surprisingly playful" rear-end note.
Build and value. Four trims are listed: the base AllMtn 4 at £4,799, the (base) trim, the CF TRN, and the CF 11 TRN/IQ. lar1337 notes Haibike is one of the major brands using Pinion through dealers like Williams Cycles UK. The flagship CF 10 TRN/IQ pairs the Pinion with the Gates belt and a premium component spec, while the entry trims use conventional chain drivetrains and likely a different motor system.
Community-verified strengths. First, motor quietness: border304 calls the Pinion "weirdly quiet going down or coasting", a notable shift from chain-and-derailleur drivetrains. Second, suspension feel: slickrock rates the descending suspension performance as "superlative", attributing it partly to the belt drive isolation. Third, the 600% Pinion gear range provides extreme low-end gearing for steep climbs.
Caveats and known gripes. First, gear-shift noise in low gears: border304 describes it as "an angry swarm of bees noise in the first 4 gears, then quieter than my SL in the rest". Second, idler pulley issues on the high-pivot variant: Paul F warns the pulley "needs a lot of cleaning, new bearing every year at least, clogs with mud easily, and is noisy", concluding it is "only suitable for dry non-muddy trails". Third, the Pinion shift-under-power discipline requires a learning curve — easing off the pedal load between gears 4-5 and 8-9 specifically.
Verdict. The Haibike AllMtn 2025 makes most sense for the rider who specifically wants the Pinion MGU gearbox-and-belt drivetrain, modern all-mountain geometry, and the trade-off of low-maintenance gearbox transmission in exchange for accepting in-gear shifting discipline and the high-pivot idler-maintenance burden. Less suitable for muddy-trail riders, derailleur-loyalists, or buyers seeking the absolute lightest motor system. Production status: current.
