Neuron:ON 2024
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.
Versatile trail eMTB all-rounder

The Canyon Neuron:ON 2024 is the Koblenz direct-to-consumer brand's carbon trail eMTB: a Horst-link 4-bar chassis with 140 mm of travel front and rear, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor at 85 Nm of torque, and an integrated 750 Wh PowerTube battery. At a claimed 22.6 kg, this is a do-it-all trail platform pitched directly at riders who want full Bosch power in a more accessible 140 mm package than the long-travel Spectral:ON or Torque:ON siblings. Production status is gold-listed as discontinued — buyers should check current availability before ordering.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 delivers 85 Nm of torque. The 750 Wh PowerTube battery is gold-listed as removable, though forum data from earlier Neuron:ON variants flags this as a known concern. One rider reports the original released Neuron:ON CF models had non-removable batteries: "didn't realise at first that the battery on the Neuron:ON CF models can't be removed for charging — that's the end of that then." Another rider calls the non-removable battery design a major doubt. Buyers should verify removability on the specific trim and year before ordering. Real-world range on the Bosch CX with 750 Wh typically lands at 1,400–1,800 m of climbing per charge.
Geometry and handling. Head angles vary by size and frame variant — 65.5° to 67.5° per the gold table. This is firmly trail rather than enduro territory. Reach progresses from 405 mm (XS) through 425 mm (SM), 435 mm (S/MD/SM), 455 mm (LG), 460 mm (M/MD) and up to 510 mm on XL options. Chainstays sit at 435–450 mm depending on size and trim. Wheelbase grows 1,135 mm to 1,286 mm. The Neuron:ON has 13 nominal size points, including dual sizing conventions and within-size geometry variants — confusing for buyers but practical for fit. 29-inch wheels on M–XL, 27.5-inch on XS–S. The platform's positioning is the calm, versatile, accessible trail bike — not a slack enduro sled.
Build and value. Three trims share the carbon chassis with broadly equivalent £4,861–£5,349 base spec: RockShox Pike Ultimate fork (140 mm), Deluxe Select R shock, SRAM Code RSC 4-piston brakes (203 mm rotors) and SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission wireless 12-speed. At under £5,500 with carbon construction and AXS T-Type, this was strong value when current.
Community-verified strengths. Canyon's broader Neuron lineup has earned positive forum reception. @Rockhopper70 bought a Canyon Neuron:ONfly (Bosch SX-powered sibling) and "after two rides really pleased with it." Canyon's direct-to-consumer pricing remains a meaningful advantage; spec-for-spec their bikes typically undercut dealer-network rivals by 15–25%.
Caveats and known gripes. Production status is the most significant caveat: the Neuron:ON CF was removed from Canyon's website in May 2025, per @drocho. Only the Neuron:ON AL and Neuron:ONfly remain in current production. Buyers should verify availability before committing. @drocho also notes "Canyon's situation in this eMTB category is not that good" — flagging unresolved "battery gate" problems on Spectral:ON and Torque:ON, with owners still waiting for new batteries. A Neuron:ON early buyer reports a battery issue on the AL model that took over 3 weeks with no progress through the service centre. Canyon's direct-to-consumer servicing pathway can be slow during peak issues. The 65.5°+ head angle is steeper than modern trail-enduro alternatives at similar money. The reported non-removable battery on early CF models is a known frustration — verify with Canyon.
Verdict. The Canyon Neuron:ON 2024 was a credible carbon trail eMTB platform with the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor at compelling direct-to-consumer pricing, but the gold-listed discontinued status and forum-documented battery-and-service concerns mean buyers should approach with caution. It would have suited buyers who want full Bosch power in a 140 mm trail package, accept Canyon's direct-to-consumer ordering model and don't need a long-travel enduro. With the CF model now unavailable, buyers should look at the surviving Neuron:ON AL (Bosch CX alloy), Neuron:ONfly (Bosch SX lightweight), Canyon Grand Canyon:ON hardtail, or the Cube Stereo Hybrid One77 SLX as a similar Bosch CX full-suspension alternative with proven dealer support. Production status: discontinued.
