A solid all-round descender (65.5° head angle, 140mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
Neuron:ON CF 2023
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The 2023 Canyon Neuron:ON CF was the carbon, Bosch-powered sibling of the alloy Neuron:ON, launched on 13 June 2023 as a genuinely separate platform rather than a trim of the aluminium bike. Where the alloy version ran Shimano STEPS, the CF is built around a full-carbon frame, 140 mm of travel front and rear, and a Bosch Performance Line CX motor (85 Nm, up to 340 per cent assistance) fed by a frame-integrated 750 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery. Canyon pitched it as a do-it-all adventure trail e-MTB, around 2.5 kg lighter than its predecessor.
Three UK trims spanned the range. The CF 7 at 4,799 pounds paired a RockShox Pike with a Shimano Deore 1x12 drivetrain; the CF 8 at 5,349 pounds stepped up to a FOX 34 Float Performance fork and a full Shimano XT M8100 group with XT brakes; and the flagship CF 9 at 6,699 pounds added a RockShox Pike Ultimate, SRAM Code RSC brakes and wireless SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission shifting. All three rolled on 29in wheels with Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres and shared a Canyon:ON alloy cockpit and Iridium dropper.
Geometry is modern trail rather than aggressive enduro: a slack 65.5 degree head angle, 450 mm chainstays across the board, a 36 mm bottom bracket drop and reach growing from 435 mm on the smallest frame to 510 mm on the XL, with wheelbases stretching from 1203 mm to 1285 mm. Four frame sizes (S to XL) were offered. It is built for stable, all-day trail mileage with plenty of climbing support from the Bosch unit.
This model year is now discontinued and the original Canyon product page returns a 404. The Neuron:ON CF carbon platform with its Bosch drive went on to define the upper end of Canyon's Neuron:ON line in later years.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
Short 450mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.79) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 and a steep the seat angle seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
