Hi all, I’m new to the group and own a 2024 Decoy core 4, cracking bike and had no issues but with YT going into administration and today YT USA closing anyone got any advice where to go if I and other Decoy owners have motor issues (although out of warranty) and mainly if the battery packs up as it’s specific to the Decoy? Thanks in advance, it’s a shame as a great bikes, (hope the frame dosnt crack 🙄)!

I think the best bet is go though a bike shop which is certified to work on the motor you have and they should be able to source a battery and can take care of any motor issues you may need to address. YT is gone but they all use similar motor/battery kits so not the end of the world.

edit: just re read your post and none of it applies as you are out of warranty, as above find a shimano service centre

I don't know the exact situation for YT now but if the company on the invoice is bust, you paid by credit card and you are in the UK the card company is on the hook for the warranty, you should go through them first and ask about their section 75 liability.

When CRC went bust, some people had full refunds when their bikes broke, or they may point you into the direction of a bike shop and they should fund the repair.

YT used a proprietary 3rd party battery ad wiring harness on the Decoy however. Sure a Shimano service centre may be able to replace the motor but the others parts may not be so easy. If I owned a decoy I would be looking on ebay or similar or similar ASAP to try and pick up some spares.

You're right about the Shimano Decoy battery being specific yo the YT and not made by Shimano. YT USA blew out their battery inventory at 50% off before they shut down (I tried to buy one but they were all gone!)
They told me things like the battery, power button and wiring harness are all proprietary to YT.
They said they were hoping
to sell all their leftover inventory here in America to Jensen Usa.
I also heard there's a Facebook page someone started for Yt owners trying to deal with warranty issues.

Well, I had been trying to buy parts, and get warranty support since May, to no avail - so it's not looking good for us. Shimano is suppose to support your electronics, so we'll see about that. 2024 Core 4 is a sweet setup, so I hope yours holds up, my 2024 Core 1 was only $2600 when I bought it, it still runs (1100 original miles), so I can't really complain too much, but still disheartening to say the least. I will advise the forum as to any successful/unsuccessful warranty/parts/etc as I move forward. It was/is my first ebike so lessons hopefully learned. Best of luck with your Decoy!

The Path bike shop in Tustin, California. As always, the best!

My power button felt a bit weird/mushy yesterday when i tried powering my '22 decoy 29'er on.. I unscrewed the bolt to take a look and the internals pretty much crumbled out into my hand, so i need a replacement button. i reached out to YT directly (on Insta and via their customer service address) as well as Path bike shop (though i'm down in AZ)- Thanks for sharing this contact, hoping to be back on the trail soon

Edit: After ending on a Google image search, I believe a 2022 Orbea Hydro RS power button might (hopefully) work as a direct drop-in.. The Orbea runs an EP8-RS motor, the plug looks exactly the same as my (broken) button for my EP8, minus the YT housing that it slides into. I got the only 1 button available on Amazon, shipping is like 2 weeks from somewhere far away (UK? Spain?). Fingers crossed- Attached a photo of what it looks like, if anyone needs to reference this info down the line- If anyone cares for me to do so, i'll post again when I receive/test it.

Update: The Path shop got back to me and were super nice but didn't have/couldn't source the part I needed, unfortunately- I purchased the button from a company in the UK. Works and fits perfectly and outside of the cord being slightly longer, there is no (visible) difference- Here's a link to the button in case anyone else has the issue. https://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/orbea_power_button_and_cable_for_rise_carbon-26395
