Whyte Karve Evo

I took mine apart and put it back together; the creaking has stopped, and it's solid, but it has a gap all the way round. Didn't check before so not sure if it was like this already or not.

I think it's meant to have a little gap mine didn't really have one until the shop put a spacer. I'd be interested to see what parts are in yours as I feel like mine aren't right some how.

I'll get some pics up at some point , but as I recall it was standard bearings top and bottom and then a black piece with three little notches sticking out which held the fork steerer tube centrally. Then the caps etc

Just been looking at the bikes in the flesh at Ard Rock and they look really smart. I asked about upgrading the full carbon one to the Evo spec to save some weight and apparently that's possible.

It’s exactly the same frame. Only thing that’s different is shock linkage as far as I’m aware.

How much weight is in the rear triangle in reality, couple of hundred grams maybe? Don’t know if it’s worth the cost & hassle. Evo RSX for me.

Don’t suppose you asked them about the creaking headset? 😂

Im going to try building up a 170 / 170 Karve full carbon if I manage to get everything I need. A 230x60 shock and 170mm Zeb would make it a decent enduro build.

So third ride and headset started to creak like crazy FFS. Also had to top up fluid in the brake reservoirs as was pumping on air on second ride.
Check if the cap bit at the top is level. Mine isn't it's tilted forward and rubs on the head set cup. There's an extra spacer in it now but its a bodge not a proper remedy

Top cap is level but there is a gap all round like you showed in your pics. I think it's just a bad design and the gap allows crap in which makes it creak. I cleaned and re-greased and it's quiet again. For now at least.

Inside there is a weird little split spacer (that is replaceable with angle sets etc for altering geo), I suspect this is supposed to squash down (closing the split) which would then allow the top part to close the gap. But I've tightened the top cap as far as a dare, and still a small gap.
