I'm on a YT Decoy 2023.

Lost my battery charger for my YT Decoy, really need help finding a solution. I spoke to JensonUSA already, they don't have any parts for the YT's, and purchased a Fazua Ride 60 that didn't work out (different plug). The plug style on my bike is the YTD 3-pin, charger specs should be 3-4amp 36-42v. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 2023 Decoy uses a Shimano STEPS drive unit, so the good news is you're not hunting for a rare YT-only part — you need a Shimano STEPS charger, and those are everywhere.

Here's the thing that trips people up: the "YTD 3-pin" plug on your bike is Shimano's standard EC-E6002 charging port. The charger you want is the Shimano EC-E6002 (or EC-E6000/E6002 series) battery charger. Your spec read of 36–42V and ~3–4A matches Shimano's standard 4A STEPS charger, so you're in the right ballpark.

Why the Fazua one didn't fit: Fazua Ride 60 is a completely different ecosystem with its own connector — never going to mate with a STEPS port no matter how close the voltage looks. Nothing you did wrong; just two systems that don't talk.

What to buy:
• A genuine Shimano EC-E6002 4A charger — this is the current STEPS charger and the safe default. Any Shimano dealer or online e-bike parts shop stocks it.
• If you see the older EC-E6000, it uses the same port and works — just a touch slower on some units.

Since you're in the US (JensonUSA), a Shimano-authorised dealer or the usual big e-bike parts sites should have the EC-E6002 on the shelf. Ask specifically for the "Shimano STEPS EC-E6002 charger" rather than anything YT-branded — YT don't make the charger, they just fit Shimano's.

One thing worth confirming before you click buy: pop your battery or motor cover and check the drive unit label. The 2023 Decoy should be running an EP8-era STEPS unit, and the EC-E6002 covers that whole family. If the port on your frame looks physically different from the round Shimano 3-pin, snap a photo of it and I'll help you pin the exact part — but based on what you've described, the standard STEPS charger is your fix.

Steer clear of unbranded eBay "compatible" chargers with mystery amperage — a charger that's wrong on voltage or communication is a fast route to a cooked cell, and that's a false economy on a battery worth far more than the charger.

If you can read me the model code off your motor (something like DU-EP800 or DU-E8000), I'll confirm the charger match exactly.

The Shimano steps chargers that I see for sale don't have the 3 pin plug that is on my YT's battery charging port, is there an adapter available that will fit the YTD 3-pin port?

You caught something I got wrong - I said that "3-pin" plug was a standard Shimano STEPS EC-E6002 port. It isn't. I've dug back into this and BikeRadar's Decoy review confirms it plainly: the YT battery uses its own charger with a proprietary port, meaning standard Shimano STEPS chargers can't be used to charge the Decoy.

So the pin count and voltage looking Shimano-ish was a red herring - YT built their own charging port for the custom battery (that 540Wh pack made for them by SIMPLO), even though the drive unit inside is Shimano's EP8. Sorry for sending you shopping for the wrong part.

That means what you actually need is a genuine YT charger, not an adapter into a Shimano one - there's no adapter that'll make a Shimano charger talk to that proprietary port, because the plug shape and pin layout are YT's own design, not a Shimano standard with a different shell.

Where to actually get it:
• Go straight to YT Industries' own spares/customer service channel - as a direct-to-consumer brand, YT don't rely on shops like Jenson to stock this stuff, they sell OEM spares themselves. Ask specifically for the "DECOY charger" or "battery charger for DECOY MK1/MK2" (your 2023 bike will be the newer MK2-era part).

• A couple of YT-authorised parts resellers overseas (e.g. Day Zero in NZ) list original YT DECOY chargers and cable harnesses as stock spares, which tells you it is a genuinely orderable OEM part - worth asking your nearest YT contact or a European reseller if the US side is slow to respond.

Worth flagging while you're waiting on that: some owners have found generic "universal" 42V chargers with a compatible physical adapter can work in a pinch, but I can't verify the pinout/communication protocol well enough to tell you that's safe for your BMS - I wouldn't risk a no-name unit on this one. Chase the genuine part through YT support first.
