I have a 2022 Marin Apline Trail E1. Full custom build. Comes with a e7000 steps motor and removable 504wh battery. 53.0 lbs, with a very burly build.

The bike IMO is amazing. Handles, Jumps, great on the steeps. My biggest complaint is the 150mm rear travel. The 60nm/500watts is fine! I mean a little more torque would be nice but overall the power is just enough. And the removable battery allows me good range having two of them.

My point is are they going to build another good bike? Their current bosch bike isn't very appealing IMO although the price is good. I feel like they could really build something awesome if they used one of the newer motors out there. Or heck refine the bike I have and stick with shimano and offer it at a great price.

They won’t be using Avinox yet it sounds like, but that’s not a bad thing. I just wish they packaged the Bosch better. It is hard on the eyes compared to all the new Bosch bikes. It could be the best riding bike out there but I do believe initial eye test will stop some from considering. Sounds like they have a sick demo program though and a good demo could make you see past the giant motor area.

Love my 2025 E2, ya its heavy AF but the big battery, geo and long travel for 4k its hard not to walk away grinning after each ride. Whatever move they make next will still be a fun ride and value.

I’ve got a Bosch SX powered EL1 in my ‘fleet’, really nice bike. The thumbnail in the video is a Trail E1 isn’t it?

I have no insight as to what they’re releasing anytime soon, but I’ve had a few Marin bikes over the years and I’ve enjoyed them.

I guess it's slightly better looks wise but still not ain't the prettiest. Paint job isn't helping either.

I like the rift zone but short travel doesn’t fit my riding type. The Bosch alpine trail is too heavy, and too ugly for me. I’d be happy if they came out with a long travel bike and under cut the whole market lol

Finally watched that video, did not care for his opinion. I think their Shimano powered bikes were better than the current generation Bosch bikes.

aesthetically you are correct, but geo, travel and horst link trump earlier models. I ride with 3 other guys on the shimano version, they get smoked

I’m not sure what business model Marin has in place at the moment 🤔. Since the innovations days like the Wolf Ridge they have fallen into the abyss of ho-hum with their bikes. No carbon anymore, aluminum only and very safe but boring designs. My wife loved her Riffzone and I still have my Wolf Ridge but we moved on from Marin bikes. Then I watched that video and he almost sounds like Marin has little to no interest in competing in the EMTB arena?

The weight of this @ 26.2kg makes it easily the heaviest eMTB on thier test, by 2 to 4 KG's. : 2026 eMTB Shootout | 15 Bikes go Head-to-Head

Be interesting to see what they have to say about the bike. The video is the next one due to drop, maybe tomorrow.
Just too much for me. Granted I've never ridden a bike over 53lb I feel like 55 is my limit but why when i could get into a rig like a Transition Regulator Cx that's under 50lbs. My current 2022 Trail E1 is 53lbs with a zeb ult, Vivid Air ult, fr541 wheels and DH casing tires. Not to mention im running 220/200 rotors. Nothing on my bike was about weight savings. Yes it has a 504wh battery but every 100wh is around 1 pound. Am I missing something? Who thinks producing a 55 plus pound bike these days is a good idea?

To be fair to Marin, the lighter bikes are 1.5x to 2.5x more expensive.

My Trek Rail weighs 26kg (58lbs) with a rear coil spring, gravity tyres and Mallet E clip pedals, which isn't so much a problem for me, but if I'm upgrading my sons Rail (he's still growing fast) then it's approaching half his weight and he would also prefer a lighter bike.

Looking at the Loam Wolf site it says 800wh removable battery. Who needs such a thing!? I'd understand if it was a smaller battery.

I do !
Having a removable battery means you can ride for much longer, nearly all day in a medium power mode, or a bit less in a higher power mode. [With a second battery]
What’s the point in spending £7k to £12k+ on an eMTB with a motor which provides industry leading power & torque, if your range is limited to less than 3 hours of riding. Especially if driving to the track is a multi hour trip each way!

E.g. Ride Bike Park Wales with an 800wh battery, start at 10am and it will be dead by 1pm, that’s if you are not using Turbo mode. Having paid £25 to ride, (pedal pass) plus travel time and costs - you’ll be going home 3+ hours early

I understand there's a very few amount of people who do need such a thing buts its small. In the PNW with a 600wh in mid power for bosch gen 5 guys are getting 6k vert and 20 miles with a little juice left. I have yet to ride with anyone who has killed their 600wh on their bosch bike.

Here is an example - The exact same riding venue (Bike Park Wales), one with only 1 battery (top image) and the other with two batteries (bottom image)

One battery : 7 runs in 5hrs 50mins
Two batteries : 10 runs in 5hrs 43mins

If you're paying £100 to ride and driving 5 hours, which one would be your preference ?

One battery - includes charging it for 1 hour during lunch time for one extra run (up and down)

Two batteries - with around 25% remaining on the 2nd battery
