What did you buy your ebike this week?

Downtube still gets dirty with bigger one but longer at front it should keep mud out of eyes . I've never seen a full mudguard on a mtb . On my road bikes i wouldn't be without them .
I don’t care about the bike getting dirty really, my only goal was to prevent sand/mud from getting thrown into my eyes which was been happening a lot lately any time the ground is damp at all. I’ll hopefully have a chance to test it out this weekend.

I used to get a lot of slight eye infections so like a decent guard . We get too much rain and mud . Been dry for 6 weeks here went out yesterday 15 dry miles of trail then went in to trees for 2 miles bike filthy again.

Oh hello new shock! Just need to set it properly now 🤔

My motor cover cracked and since I have a Bafang motor I looked into Ali express. Always avoided before due to worries about import fee, vat and handling fee's charged by couriers. Pleasently surpised that for the UK, if the order+delivery is below £135 then there is no import fee, Aliexpress charges VAT so the price you see is the price you pay.

Ended up buying a few cheap tools, glasses and this dropper lever:

Also bought a new tyre, old one leaked slowly when tubeless then went bang a couple miles after putting a tube in

Just went out for a quick 45 minute ride and can safely say it’s the best $25 I’ve spent on the bike! Misty/drizzly out today so things were definitely wet and I didn’t get a single bit of dirt thrown at me, can’t believe I didn't put one on before this.

Gotta say that these MTB prejudices against front and rear fenders which prevent muck being thrown into your face and up your back are pretty dumb and are finally being consigned to history. Quite apart from the fact that they can protect your fork seals and swing arm bearings of course 😉

Curious how often you do this. Is that an occasional clean 🤔 or do you do it every ride. I'm not the fussiest and never have been. I bought a Peaty degreaser / bike cleaner doubt it will last twenty washes . I used petrol for years. The front chain ring is a pain to degrease.

About every 80-100 miles ( or 4 rides). Works a treat...you can see literally see the grit and general filth coming out of the chain. Dead simple no need to split the chain, in the smallest rear gear slip the chain off the chainring and around the pedal, use a plastic tub.....you may need to raise it up with with something (a brick works)..some degreaser in and rotate the rear cassette backwards guiding about a fifth of the chain into the bath...repeat until the full chain has been through the bath twice. Then repeat with boiling water. Total time 10 minutes? Wait to dry (doesn't take long the chains hot). Then lube. And whilst the chains off, with an old toothbrush clean the chainring and cassette. Don't lube the chain until the boiling water is clear, or clear enough to make no difference.

Looked at them out of curiosity, strange i wonder what they are like

Ref: Post No #7094 13th May'25 and post No #7102 23rd May'25.

After a big effort by my grandson and me last weekend, we got the racking installed, all the storage boxes and other general crap put away, cupboards installed higher up, freezer relocated and my bike rack mounts installed. It is going to take bloody ages to sort out where everything is, but at least I can see the floor now. There is more to still dispose of, and the ladder has to go up on the ceiling yet. Then we can start on the floor tiles. You can see the half dozen I put together and used as a work area when building the racking. The other 110 tiles, plus some ramped edges, are in those cardboard boxes with the strapping laid next to the ladder.
Learnings: The unexpected bit was discovering that garage floor, although flat and relatively smooth has a gentle slope (to allow water to drain out of the garage door openings I assume). That slope measured over 3.6 m of racking amounted to a lot of shims to make the shelves level. Also, the wall fastenings supplied by the racking supplier only work if there is only one bay. Once several bays are linked together, they don't work at all! Out of necessity, we did it our way. Another goodie was before you start, RTFI!!! The main uprights are painted slotted angle and they have an arrow stamped on them. The arrow must be pointing upwards! :ROFLMAO:

It seems to have taken ages to do and I wish that I had been ten years younger when starting, but my 17 years old grandson made up for a lot of my failing strength and flexibility. One more heave with the floor and it'll be done!!

Hey @steve_sordy , when it's done it's done, doesn't matter when. Looking good 👍
I'll be having a week off before doing anything else strenuous.
I last rode my bike on 20th April!! That is six weeks as at last Saturday!! OK, I was on hols for the first week, but since I got back it has all been working in the garage. For most of that the bike was inaccessible without a huge effort to shift stuff out of the way.

Used to have one recovery day between riding the eMTB or kitesurfing but now need two recovery days. No big deal.

Well after taking a spill and slicing my shin on the pedal pins on my Vaults I came up with the idea to cover the pins with adhesive heat shrink tube. Looks like it's gonna work. Hopefully will make the pins a little more friendly.
Now I just have to wait for my shoulder to heal.

Original Endura MT 500 shorts must have had 6 pairs of these in last 30 years . Sadly no longer available , probably as they last too long .Down to one pair so got their top of range ??? with 600 series pad . Paper thin compared to other pair but pad looks ok. Impressed with Certini bicycle company ordered these 11 yesterday morning and delivered 11 ish today. £59 cheapest I seen and free postage . Plymouth to Buckie in a day is nae bad.

After an awesome day at glentress on Sunday
I rode all of the day with basically no rear brake it stoped me but when modulating it it went to the bar and zero power
thought it needed a bleed so did 2 on Monday but noticed oil leaking from master cylinder next to lever
so bought a new one
fitted today and all good again

Contacted Magura about it as they have 5 year warranty but they want the entire brake system back to check
Don’t think I can be arsed to remove it all send it back for them to tell me it my fault

Oh and have no bike until it’s all back as don’t want to put the sram code back on as that need a new cable as I had to cut it to remove

Same thing happened to mine recently. Magura denied the claim, but the interstate supplier of the bike picked up the tab for me.

Thanks

I’m gonna still email them back and see if there’s anyway that I can send just the lever but I get why they want it all back. Make sure it’s all genuine parts which it is tbh
if they drain it it’s blue 😀 all normal
But the replacement came with the HC3 lever (all brand new) so I’m happy enough
shame Magura want It all back for warranty

I popped seals or something in Hope brakes they wanted the same thing . I spoke to Berkshire cycles who supplied them. Sent caliper to them they fitted seals and sent back all free. Just sent a Hyundai pressure washer back today the fitting on hose was wrong. Instead of sending me the proper fitting i had to send whole thing back Just got it delivered on Tuesday that's 3 times I will need to wait in for couriers. Nightmare everything nowadays.

I didn’t have to send the lever in. I just had to supply pics to the local Magura dealer who liaised with Magura. The Local Magura dealer (bike shop) fitted the new lever and the interstate supplier of the bike paid for the cost.

Magura alleged I’d crashed the bike or it got damaged in shipping. Iv never crashed the bike (as the Magura dealer could attest as the bike is unmarked) and shipping of the bike happened nearly two years ago when I bought the bike.

Disappointed with Magura’s handling of this as I quite like their brakes.

I have Vaults. I recommend removing the leading centre pin on each side of the pedals. Those are the ones that hit the shin bone. A pedal strike still hurts like hell, but at least you don't get gouged into the bone!

Another tactic of course is to wear shin guards. Once I started to wear knee & shin guards as a defence against nettles and brambles, I didn't bother putting back the pins. As a bonus, I don't get holes in my trouser legs any more either.

Neither of these are of much use when the pedal comes from behind and strikes the calf muscle!!

So…..

Reporting back…..

Parcel landed, import done & letter from post office re. duties to be paid 🥴

IMG_8126.jpeg

£47 later and this morning I collected the pedals (test ride @ Bpw)

IMG_8127.jpeg

IMG_8128.jpeg

They have the foot position below the axle centre as opposed to conventional pedals 🤔

So I rode this morning (~10 miles) and they’re a game-changer for me!

Why a game-changer? I’ve a broken bone in my foot so riding is uncomfortable - these were bought in an attempt to minimise discomfort and so far they’ve shone 😎

More riding to follow & next week they’re out on loan as a lot of the park staff want to try them (& a few already are expressing interest in buying some so are these a fad or the next revolution 🤷‍♂️)

You've been robbed mate, they've got bits missing. 😄

proof of more irresponsibility 🤭

ordered a while ago (seaotter discount of free postage might have been involved😜)

now waiting on postage AND the dreadded import costs😖

BUT........

will it actually change the way the Range rides or just drain my finances slightly:unsure:

also....

just collected from parcelfarce, Manitou Mara Pro rear damper (250x70) as a 'spare' for her dh bikes (I might want to ride them and air is easier to set springging than coil so......) and Manitou Dorado rebuild / service / sealkit.
bought from Starbike in Germany (2nd faultless purchace) lastweek and an easy process😎
will buy from them again☺️

Rich.
