I believe it's wear and tear, but it's worth claiming just in case. At least they will inspect it.
The one to watch for is when the post sinks by 4-5 mm. That will only get worse and in both of the cases it has happened to me it was terminal and I got a new post. One was a Reverb the other was a KS.

Most droppers move side to side. I questioned this on my new fox transfer. It's quite noticeable but normal. Which model do you have?

Not sure. Merida own brand.

They all do it. Why not go in store and try wiggle one in there to compare to yours. That'll tell you if yours has more movement.
