How many Chains to a Cassette/Chain Ring ???

I have been running 3 chains to a cassette/chain ring, replacing the chain at 0.75%

I have 3 chains, rotated every 100km or so. Treated with Putolene. 2000km (3 motors) in and still not showing 0.75% wear. One motor didn't even last a chain rotation!

2500km, still on original motor, 2 chains in the bin. 3rd chain now at 0.75% and just going to replace the lot at some point, probably when it gets well past 1%

0.75 reached at 1100 miles. Small Bosch front chainring was too worn to accept new chain (KMC X11)
Cassette was absolutely fine. I simply fitted a new chain and flipped the chainring over to the other side and all is well.

Same procedure with wife’s bike but hers is a 10 speed as opposed to an 11 speed and therefore her chain is thicker (KMC X10)
She managed 1500 miles before 0.75 was reached.

Yes I wish mine came with a 10 speed instead of an 11, for one I really don't need an 11 speed on an E Bike and for two I bet its more durable and cheaper to replace parts.

Guys yo do realise you are meant to change 11 speed chains at 0.5 wear, its 10 speed chains that you are meant to change at 0.75

Saying that i have experimented with 11 speed and 10 speed chain wear on road bikes over the years and have found when replacing 10 speed chains at 1.0 wear the new one always skipped on the cassette

When replacing 11 speed chains at 0.75 wear sometimes they skipped on the cassette and sometimes they were ok but it was hit and miss

Ive also ran one chain, chainring and cassette for years and just let them wear together and then replaced when the shifting became unbearable

Also mileage is no indication of wear, conditions ridden in play a big part of chain wear, ive worn 11 speed chains to 0.5 in 160 miles through winter and had summer bikes hit 2500 miles before hitting 0.5 wear
