Hi guys!

I’ve been driving for a while now with my turbo levo comp 2020 model and I was thinking about changing the groupset from it, to a 12 speed maybe? what did you guys change or what do you prefer? Anyone that has changed his groupset that has much improvement of shifting?
feel free to say what you think or changed ?

I'm sure I read somewhere on this forum about someone "upgrading" from 11 to 12 speed and regretting it - don't know why.

Perhaps someone can explain why Specialized choose to only go with 11 speed? Which has smoother changes?

Weight might be a factor on the high end versions. Cassettes more expensive.

I'd also be interested to know whether upgrading from SRAM GX (but still 11 speed) gives a noticeably smoother change.

ID stick with 11 speed ... Purly because of cost ... but I would "upgrade" the GX to XT and a SLX 11 speed cassette that will be give me a 11-46 instead of the 11-42 ... I think this should give me all the gearing I need...

But you can use Shimano XT/SLX 11-46 cassette and keep GX mech ...

Do you need 12 speed? It works fine on an EMTB, I have ridden 8, 10,11 and 12 on EMTB's, and aside from the 8 which whilst it had a good overall spread, I didn't like the big jumps between ratios, I have never ridden them and though I wish I had another big gear.

The reason its not "the best" to put on an EMTB is because its slightly weaker than a 11 speed, the chain is slightly narrower etc, meaning you are likely to go through parts a bit quicker, and that and cost is why a lot of brands stick with 11.

I have a full XT 11 speed set up on my bike, and I love it, especially the ability to multi shift up and down - I dont think I have ever use the biggest ring out back.

Personally I am a Shimano fanboy, never got on with Sram, but I would like to see them make a 10 or 11 speed version of AXS, as having tried that it really is the future, well until Shimano bring out a true wireless system

I ride a Levo SL with the 12 speed and to me it shifts clunky most of the time. Some others have changed their SL to Shimano 11 speed and say it shifts much better. I doubt you would consider the SRAM 12 speed an upgrade.

don't get the shimano 11-46. it has that 37-46 cog jump. it's too much of a jump. It makes you long for a 40 or 42 2nd biggest cog. SunRace makes A well spaced 11-46. When I wear out my SLX 11-46 from shimano, I'm going there.

I was contiplating the change as well.... A couple riding buddies of mine that have Giant TranceE and had the 12 spd Sunrace cassettes, and they both bent their teeth over (folded) with under 100 miles on them. It made me realize just how much torque is applied to the rear wheel.

I have shimano 10 speed on my Vitus saint shifter with SLX derailleur & it’s smoother than my XX1 eagle shifter & derailleur on acoustic bike didn’t like shimano XT 11 speed too clunky on acoustic bike so went 12 don’t need more than 10 on ebike

I went from my stock NX 11 spd to GX 12spd and it was a day and night difference. The shift are more crisps and you can change more than one gear at a time. The other reason I like it is because I’m able to ride in eco more often. Which increase my battery range per say. And the last reason I enjoy it is when I ride with friends without ebikes. It lets me keep pace with them a lot easier with just dropping them.

I can see the appeal if you have a Levo SL or ride mostly in lower power modes, I am a stick it in trail and go ride guy

I switched to all Shimano, cassette XT 11-42. Way more cheaper and switching is good.
If I need more bigger gog, I just switch to trail mode :)

At least Shimano XT 12-speed shifts fantastic, but you need to adjust it correctly, especially the b-tensio. But there is a mark inside the cassette, so it's quite easy.
