Has anyone tried these out and if so what are your thoughts? I notice that at £89 they’re not that expensive compared to Luftkappe and other ‘upgrades’.
Also would they work in a more basic fork with a Grip or MoCo damper?

Although having now searched for TruTune most of the results are just people saying they put one in and not really giving much detail on how it rode.

I recently fitted a Trutune insert into my Fox 38 grip performance, a real revelation!
I followed Trutune's set up recommendations and my fork is now so supple off the bottom and better supported mid-range.
As I am a big guy (250lbs) I need to run a high pressure in my forks to get the desired sag and because of this, the fork tended to be less compliant off the bottom.
With the insert fitted, I actually added 15psi more to get the correct sag and retained the original one token, which I'll probably remove some time in the future as I'm only getting 75% of the travel.
I can't believe how something so simple and relatively cheap can make such a difference.

I fitted one to my E-Tuned 36 Rhythm on a Spectral on that was not using the full travel.
I'm light at 65KG fully togged up.
It made a massive difference to the sensitivity of the fork and the travel used. Very plush and it allows you to hammer through rock gardens. The Rhythm fork gets a bit out of its depth in really rocky terrain but the TruTune Insert stops the worst hits hammering your body.

However, I also fitted one to the Fox factory fork on my StumpJumper Pro from new.
It completely messed up the damping and was harsh as hell. I messed about with the air, comp and rebound settings trying to find a good set up. All to no avail.
It was only when I removed the Trutune Insert that the fork finally started to work like a grip2 damper should. Plush and controlled over all types of terrain.
So maybe it is more suitable to a damper like the Grip. Nothing wrong with the basic grip though and in a lot of situations, I think it is better than the grip2 or X.
Mainly because you can quickly change the compression damping to suit the terrain with a quick turn of the dial.

It’s good to hear that it seemed to work better in the simpler forks, especially as they’ll probably be going in a Performance 38 with Grip damper for my wife’s bike and a Domain Gold RC for me.

Annoyingly I thought it was the Old Domain R (YT still listed the old fork on the specs) and not the new one so I upgraded the MoCo to an RC rather than buying the newer IFP isolator kit, but you win some you lose some, I’ll probably replace the fork if I need to one day.
