Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Absolutely right. I forgot, since I've only been living in the SRAM world since 2017 ;)

The thing with the jockey wheels is a great idea 👍
You have to shim on the right side to go further to the left..?
How many spacers do you use and by how many millimeters do you move them?
You probably also used a longer bolt screw. How long is it?
Actually you only need to shim the upper jockey wheel. Did you shim the lower one too?

Do you have any photos?
Here's a picture, you can just see the silver washers on the right hand side of the jockey wheels

Bike set up is good. The first thing I do because I need a more upright position (C4/C5 fusion 10 yrs ago). It has a lot to do with age, and me. LOL I find that nirvana floaty yet grounded susp setting every so often, but it changes every time I ride.
Have you ridden the new 38 X2?
I'm trying to put off a c5/c6 fusion. 215 lbs. +1 on the I9 40mm stem and 35 rise OneUp bars. I'm running a Lyrik at 160. I've also got a Zeb on a Madonna at 170. EXe gets ridden locally as well as taken on trips to properly gnarly and steep terrain. Had the EXe/Lyrik a little over two years and have had one CSU warranty. I would not trade the Lyrik for a 38 or Zeb.

Not necessarily responsive to your question, but my advice is to back out of thinking about bolting on a stock fork and go down the tuning rabbit hole. On my EXe, Lyrik has been burnished and I'm running an MRP lift damper (blue rebound stack and getting ready to experiment with green compression stack). On the rear, I'm running a Hazzard with a F/F tune and a progressive coil. Getting rid of friction, having a meaningful amount of damping for your weight, and avoiding all the compromises with one-size-fits-all dampers can help a lot more than the latest and greatest off-the-shelf product.

Got end error code 5403.
Says "don't push button during startup"
I'm not touching anything.

After the error comes, I can't turn off the bike or do anything.

I tried unplugging the remote, but error still comes up.

Even tried a spare remote.

Anyone had something similar?

Think I may have an issue but wanted to check in here first.

When motor is off completely whether bike is on or off and I pedal the bike there is a constant fairly quiet (ish) grinding noise and there is a bit of resistance when pedalling, actually at times it felt quite a lot, almost like I was fighting against the motor that wasn’t even on.

Is this normal? Should there be some resistance when pedalling without the motor?

Doesn't sound right. I have no noise nor resistance when pedalling without power. I can definitely feel the weight of the bike, though.

I'm possibly looking to join the EX-E party. Is there a recommended computer that pairs with the Trek Central/TQ app to record data. I prefer using Strava or is most information easily recorded?

Coming from Bosch smart system that is a bit of a mess of rider data.

Most modern garmin work fine. I use an epix 2, and have used a fenix 6.

It pairs with the bike itself (no need to use the tq or trek app for ride recording) and records/ displays the following from the bike.

Battery level
Assist mode
Rider power ( and variations, max, average etc)
Range
Cadence

It'll also pair with axs gears to show you axs battery level, current gear, number of shifts etc

The pairing with Garmin is really great.
Shows all you want to know and more.
Really wish all systems would do it like this (looking at you Bosch).

Power meter is especially very useful and gives much more data if you want to use it for fitness as well.

I'm recording all the rides on the Garmin watch, which syncs with Strava. Only use the TQ app to adjust assistance.

Is there any particular thing to do, to pair the bike to garmin? I’ve had nothing show up on my watch when both bike and watch are on.

You go to sensors and accesories on the watch and search for new sensors, if the bike is on and nearby the watch should find the following sensors; power, speed and cadence, ebike.

how silent are peoples motors in real day use? I have not had my trek long and it is quiet in the low power settings, but coming from a levo sl2 i wouldn't say its as quite as the media potrays under hard load in trail. I ride with quite a high cadence and i can definitely hear it

I feel it's quite the opposite: if my cadence is low I can hear a little whine but as I pedal faster it goes silent.

Slightly less than a 1K kms on the Fuel and I can only hear the tires on the trail while climbing in high. Probably 80 cadence most of the time.

I was wondering the same thing... My motor is not loud, but I can definitely hear it. In low mode it's pretty silent. In higher assist when riding up steaper stuff, I makes a higher pitched (electric motor) sound. A whining sound....

Are you sure it's not just the chain rubbing on the chain device??

Hi all. Newbie here. Just ordered the EXe 9.7 & should get it early next week. Ordered in red/lava.
Bought the range extender too with the TQ mount. I guess I will have to put my water bottle in a backpack. Unless there's a way to attach it somewhere else on the bike together with the range extender? Any tip? Thanks

I’ve got one of these and will use it again with a RE this season. Nice thing is that once you drink the water it weighs nothing & takes no extra space beyond the hip pack itself.

Thanks, I already have a Camelbak backpack which is great and will still use it, I'm just too much used to road bikes comfort I guess :) anyway I wont always carry the extender so this will only be a problem for the long rides

I’m now the proud owner of an EX-e. Look forward to posting some pics and details soon.

Discovered a knocking noise in the suspension of my 9.7. Upon further investigation I tracked it down to a cracked seat tube pivot bearing housing. Will need a new front triangle. Bike is with Trek dealer for warranty claim. Will update as things progress View attachment 153416
Update. Trek are replacing the frame. I was told it could be a 3-4 week wait as the replacement is coming from the US.
