Thought I would post a thread about my 2021 transalp.
My Son and I are biking from home near Munich in Germany over the Alps, through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy to Lake Garda.
Day one of our 2021 Transalp is behind us .
We started at 9:00am in rain and 10 degrees Celsius.
The first day was a warm up day from home in Olching near Munich and took us over Andechs, Weilheim Murnau to Farchant near Garmisch.
We covered 102 km and climbed 1009 m.
Mostly we were on trails and gravel roads so it was pretty exhausting as the ground was very soft and muddy.
Let's hope the weather improves. There is fresh snow in the alps.

Day two of our transalp.
Had a really good breakfast at our hotel and left in pouring rain at about 09:00. We headed into Garmisch where Tommy had to get a corona test, and we bought a pullover for him. Then I made a navigation error and rather than continuing on out tour we went back to our starting point. ? it was a different route so I didn't notice till the end.
Shit! Added about 45 minutes to our ride.
We got back underway and headed up to the Eibsee, then up to the Hochtörle Hütte in heavy rain and temperatures down to 7 degrees Celsius. Was about 900 m vertical. We had a lunch break there, changed into some dry clothes and charged the batteries.
After lunch it was raining even heavier and we managed to get to just after Imst before my bike crapped out with error code 500. So we found a hotel where we managed to hang up all our wet gear and warmed up.
We also found that the new 6A charger we bought has stopped working. Tomorrow was supposed to be our first real alpine Pass, but I'll have to look for a bike shop.

Our statistics for yesterday were
85 km and 1383 m vertical.

However my bike is dead!???

Bike shop tried reinstalling the software, and apparently had dozens of errors, bit still turns off automatically with error 500.

Highly recommended if you need a service in Imst Austria. The Cube shop Bikepalast bent over backwards to help us.
They even contacted Bosch and managed to exchange our fast charger under guarantee for us.

My Wife is kindly driving from Munich here and bringing her bike, so I can carry on.
It is a bit small, but will have to do.

Thanks for sharing and what beautiful places to tour through. I've always wanted to visit the Alps and hope to do so next year, although, hopefully it won't be so wet.

Day 4 of our Transalp was a good one. As we stayed in a hotel in Ischgl, we both got a complimentary lift ticket up the Silvarettabahn. We only had to pay 6 euro each for our bikes, so we took the lift 1500 m Up to viderjoch at 2760 m the highest point on our tour. We crossed into Switzerland, and then had wonderfull curvy Enduro trails about 1000m vertical down to the valley.
Had a loooong ride down sealed roads to the valley and the river Inn. We followed the Inn upstream about 20 km before heading about 700m up to the small alpine village S-Chal, where we are staying in a quaint, but expensive hotel overnight.
We biked 64 km today and climbed a total of 2601 m.

Day 5 in of our transalp. Today was our biggest day. We did 93 km and climbed 2280m.
Had breakfast, packed up and paid the Swiss priced very expensive bill. Were underway by 8:20. Headed up through a beautiful valley to the Passo da Costanas. Beautiful blue sky but in the shade there was Frost on the ground and it was 1 degrees. Had some great trails then down into the valley and up the other side to probably the most beautiful pass of the tour, Dös Radond. Really fun trails about 10 km long down the other side. We stopped for lunch at lake Cancano. After 50km and 1200m vertical, I still had 50% battery.
We launched and charged up before heading about 30km downhill. Unfortunately with such a strong headwind we had to use the motor.
At the end of the day we had a steep 900 m climb to La Baita, a really nice hut in an Alpine valley.
We found we had so much battery left, that the last 400m vertical which is really steep and stony we had a blast in turbo all the way. A great dinner, and interesting talks with other bikers here.

Day 6 of our transalp. Another big day today. Actually it felt worse than yesterday, as there were a lot of very steep uphill and downhill trails.
We biked 76 km today with 2150 m uphill, but 3174m downhill!
We started from the hut La Baita and immediately had about 800m hard climb up to Passo dell Alpe, then down a challenging trail. Then up to Gavia pass at 2621 m. A high speed downhill in the opposite direction to hundreds of cyclists who were in a race.
Stopped in Pezzo for Pizza and battery charge. Then another long climb up 1000 m to a long fun flowy trail. A huge downhill through Passo Tonalle to Dinero, where we are staying overnight.

Today was another huge day with 101 km 3230 m uphill and 3550 biking downhill. I have to admit that we cheated a bit and took a gondola up.
We got a bit lost at the top of a mountain but then found amazing red biepark trails that took us towards Madonna de campiglio. There I got a flat tyre after riding down a set of metal stairs.
Patched that quickly, and changed my brake pads whilst the wheel was out.
Went up the gondola at Pintolo to the most amazing views. Very challenging trails down where you don't want to be scared of heights, and panniers wouldn't be advised. No photo, but it is on the GoPro.
After that both Tommy Hansen and I came off our bikes on a smooth grassy slope. Quite funny and no injuries.
Then the longest smoothest flowiest downhill ever, about 1500m downhill we carried on to Storo for the night.

Day 8 and the last day of our transalp. We started with a hearty breakfast of packaged toast, packaged cooky packaged jam and butter. Mmmm.
We then headed off towards Tremalzo. After about 400 m climb there was a restaurant where we stopped for a coffee and a charge in the wine Garden.
Then came the 900m climb up the switchback sealed road up My Tremalzo. It was beautiful weather and a relaxed ride.
Got to a restaurant up near the top where we had a delicious spaghetti. Then for the final climb and downhill to Torbole our end point.
We absolutely blasted up and down as we had full batteries. So much so that I got a second puncture where I had to patch 4 holes. (2 snakebites). Grr with tubeless that wouldn't happen.
We made it to the beach on Torbole where we were welcomed by Caro and a bunch of friends .
Definitely a great trip.

The last day was 55 km and 1620 m climb.
In total we did 570 km and 14331m climbing.
