First post here so please bear with me!
Im currently riding a Cube Reaction Pro Hybrid with a Gen 4 Bosch and a Nyon display (hardtail) and have a Cube stereo 140SL (full sus) that may be here in the next month or so.
Yesterday, out of curiosity, I rode a Trance X E+2 and really, really loved it and was thinking of getting that or the E+3 instead.
The only issue is that the Giant doesn’t have a display where I can view my heart rate, cadence, speed etc and apparently you have to use your phone with an app to give you thus data Instead. I have read on various forums that the app is buggy and the Bluetooth connection itself can be unreliable. I’m used to the reliable Nyon which works flawlessly and uploads data to my Bosch account where I can analyse it later but I worried that the Giant app won’t do this reliably.
Ive also read that some Giant ebikes seem to be having issues with water penetration and was wondering if the Trance x+2 /3 had these issues.
My Cube has been utterly reliable - it’s 6 months old and covered 1200 miles with a single issue but I really like the Trance x!
Any advice would be great!

Giant make reliable bikes with good components. I think the vast majority of owners did not have issues with water ingress but you hear less about it.
It is true that the Giant app is poor on features and doesn’t always “see” the bike at first start. However, you really only need this app for firmware updates, battery health and bike check, you can use any other app for the data you wish to have.
I use an Apple watch which gives me heart rate, distance, speed, elevation.
Been waiting on that demo 2021 Trance E+ to arrive at LBS to try it… I have 1,500km on the 2020 model (27.5”) and loving it.

If data is your thing, you will need something other than Gaint sorting it out.

Gaint has a great component spec for the money. They are maybe the best value of all- for brick and mortar store brands- but lack imagination. LOL thats harsh but maybe true.

A good dealer is critical with Giant ebikes. Everything related to the drive is proprietary, and if you have trouble, your dealer is all you've got.

The new bikes are not water proof, they're splash proof!- and pretty good at it. The hose is your 1st enemy. After a wash I prefer to inspect it thoroughly and dry it out.

The Yamaha motor is awesome.

The batteries are first tier manufactured by Panasonic themselves.

The components are solid.

Maestro rocks.

These things are front heavy, with long chain stays, not playful but they climb like goats.

Sorry I can't answer any of your questions, but I have an X+2 and as mentioned they're like rabid goats at getting up hills. Now uphill and down is superb fun.

I use my Garmin for all the speed/alt data etc.

I use a garmin edge which connects directly to my Trance, shows battery %, power mode, heart rate, cadence, speed etc etc. Been faultless at connecting. It's another bit of kit to buy though.

I'm connecting my Garmin Edge to the Trance too. Works perfectly!
As already mentioned, you can get: sbattery %, power mode, cadence, speed and power (watts) from the bike.

I've shared a logging with all that data for you here:

How much power your Garmin shows per ride? My Garmin shows average 40-50 watts per ride. Very low effort.
