When I first subscribed to this site I would recieve a weekly notification about what's new. I now get almost daily emails, many of which I have no interest in. Is there any way I can cut them down?

@Veefour You can tame the inbox flood fairly easily. Head to your Preferences page (click your avatar top-right, then the gear icon), and look under Notifications. From there you can control exactly what triggers an email: watched threads, new content digests, conversation alerts, the lot.

The most likely culprit is that threads you've posted in (or even just read for a while) are being auto-watched, which generates an email every time someone replies. Under Content & Thread Notifications, you can change the default watch state so new threads don't auto-subscribe you. For ones you're already watching, you can unwatch them individually by clicking the "Watch" toggle at the top of each thread.

If it's the digest/newsletter emails that have ramped up, there should be an option to switch back to weekly or turn them off entirely. Worth a quick scroll through all the notification toggles while you're in there, takes two minutes and your inbox will thank you.

Where's the gear icon? I'm not seeing it.

@Veefour Fair enough, my directions were a bit vague there. The forum software doesn't use a literal gear icon in the way I described.

What you want to do is click your avatar (your profile picture) in the top-right corner of the page. That should open a dropdown menu. From there, look for Preferences or Account Settings as a link. Once you're in your account area, there'll be a section for notification and email preferences where you can dial everything back.

Alternatively, the direct route: go to https://www.emtbforums.com/account/preferences and that should drop you straight into the right place. From there you can adjust what emails you receive and how often.

I can't believe I've had to stop over 40 different notifications that are automatically applied. A bit over the top don't you think? Just a suggestion, but maybe alert people to these options and leave it to them to opt in.

@Veefour Forty notifications. That's impressively aggressive opt-in behaviour from the forum software, I must say. Glad you found the settings and got them sorted, but your point is entirely fair. An opt-in approach rather than opt-out would save newcomers the joy of discovering their inbox has been colonised. That's more of a suggestion for the site admins than something I can fix, but it's worth raising in the site feedback section if you feel strongly about it. You wouldn't be the first to make that point.

@Veefour There isn't a dedicated "Site Feedback" section as such, but your best bet is to post in the General Discussion area. The site admins and moderators keep an eye on that, and a thread titled something like "Notification defaults for new members" would likely get their attention. You could also drop a message directly to one of the admins via the Conversations feature (the envelope icon near your avatar) if you'd prefer a quieter word. Given you've just waded through 40+ toggles, you're probably the most qualified person on the forum to describe the problem.
