To coil or not to coil….that is the..suspension?😜

Anyone coiled up there Mondraker crafty?
Few riding buddies have made the shift and have been enjoying it.

There’s a couple upgrades I’ve had my eye on and the replacement shock to try a coil setup is on my radar.
I’ve heard of improvements to traction, cornering grip and improving small bump sensitivity.

Anyone done it, can rate it or indeed not recommend popping a spring on the ol girl?

I prefer an air can. The new Vivid looks interesting but it might not fit because of the piggyback.

I put a Fox DHX2 on my Rail and it's so much better. I'll never go back to an air shock on that bike.

Put Ohlins coil shocks (TTX22m.2) on wife and my (alloy) Rails, will never go back to air.

Had mine serviced last month after about 2,500 miles (300 hours?) and service agent said the shock was fine and that they see TTX22m.2's coming in for service with well over double that use and they're still working fine.

I have air shock on my analog trail bike and coil shock on my E-mtb. I like both. With coil can be costly setting sag having to buy the correct spring weight. Air well just put more or less air in. Weight. Air easier to pop off jumps not so much on coil. Coil way better through rough stuff plusher on the small trail chatter and way better in braking bumps. Horses for course. Prefer air on flow jumpy tracks . Coil on natural terrain choppy rocky rooty tracks.

I put a coil in my Focus Jam2 - a conversion that Focus said couldn't be done.
It required some modifications to fit, but it's the best thing that I have done and I won't be going back to air shocks.

I have a Cane Creek progressive 500-610lb coil on the Focus Jam2

I'm having a DVO Jade X Prime with a DVO progressive coil installed on a 2021 Trek Rail. I've never ran a coil on a bike and I wasn't really able to determine the progressivity of the suspension on that model bike. I figure I'll try the progressive spring, if I don't like it I'll try a linear coil spring. Worst case scenario I go back to the original air shock.

Pretty sure the 2020 is the same as 21. It has a good leverage curve, doesn't do anything weird.

Off topic but did you have to drop the motor and battery to re route your rear brake cable or are my eyes deceiving me?! Thanks!

Yes, but only because I have a very linear frame. On a progressive frame I wouldn’t bother.

Marzocchi coil front and back ( CR/Sprindex) on my LCE930. for the longer than normal chunky California EBIKE rides, it's been a dream. my back and hands don't hurt anymore. And the muted/planted feeling makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

That definitely helped me feel confident that the progressive spring on that bike won't be any type of major mistake.
I should have it back sometime next week I'll, I will post up how it goes after I ride it a bit and adjust the settings.

That’s a question for my trusty mechanic tbh.
I know the rear tech 4 v4 calliper only just fits for frame clearance at the rear triangle he told me FYI.
