I’d just like to thank Bearing Man and Performance Line Bearings for their research and their upgrade service for the Levo and Kenevo Brose motors.
My 2018 1.3S Levo motor started to feel rough back pedalling out of warranty.
I decided to send it to Performance Line Bearings and get the full upgrade done rather than haggle with Specialized for another motor. Took just over a week. Motor is as smooth and quiet as new, far more watertight with stronger sprag clutch bearings etc.
They also sent photos of the damage - sprag clutch breaking up.
Probably pedal strike?
This was my second motor. The first died from water ingress which was warrantied by Specialized via Edinburgh Bike Co-op (who didn’t even sell me the bike!) who were also fantastic (during first lockdown as well)
Thanks to folks like the Bearing Man these bikes have a chance of a future out of warranty. Hopefully someone will be able to rebuild the batteries when necessary ??
