Sram 220 rotor?

Anyone running a 220mm front rotor on their fork? How are you finding the braking power of the RSC’s, after bedding?

i would totally try out the 220 if there was an adaptor 160 pm to 220 pm available, any ideas?
 
Gonna try it. Just ordered. I’m hoping the Fox 36 can hang with the larger rotor. I’m sure the posts can take it...
 
I have switched to 220mm sram rotors front and rear with my code rsc brakes. It’s a no brainer, just make the switch. More power. Less hand fatigue. Less fade with the thicker 2.0mm discs. I am not going back to 200mm.

If you have a 160mm Mount then you could combine the 20mm and 40mm adapters. Looks wrong but still works.

soyou just need longer bolts ?

Agree with all your comments above, I have been running a 220mm on the front for nearly a year now and will never go back to 200. Enjoy all!
 
didn't know these were available to the public. when the 200 rotor wears out, the 220 will be installed.
 
220's front and back . Soo good. With code r's on my decoy. Just swap to 40mm sram adapters. Still has the code modulation but with a little more bite. Not quite shimano insta bite. Nice compromise. A little more power than my saints with 200mm rotors. Nice straight away on the long dh at the park. No complaints
 
To the guys that have already gone 220mm, how are you finding things like heat and pad/rotor glazing. There must be a point where you can't go any bigger with the current rotor alloys and pad compounds. The larger you go with a rotor means there's more metres per second going through the brake pads and therefore more heat.
 
No real problems as such with glazing, I changed the sintered pads in July so that is around 7 months and over 2000kms which included a fairly wet winter and number of journeys to Bike Park Wales.
I am running the 220mm on the front not the rear (200mm) and it is as good as the day it went on with really great modulation and immense one finger eye popping power.

I don’t feel the need for it one the rear (203 now) but love my 223 on the front, will never go back to a smaller one? I use Trickstuff discs and pads and Code RSC brakes.
Really happy with that setup.
 
I'm running the 225mm hope up front. I'll probably put the 220 SRAM on the rear when I get around to it. I'm 215 pounds and ride super technical, steep DH stuff with it (30-40% grades as measured by Strava). 225mm rotor is a game changer. Definitely a must do if you are over 180 pounds. Hopefully the rear will make it even better!

False. The larger rotor is dissipating heater faster than a smaller one. All the caliper sees is a slightly cooler rotor at every point in time. There aren't any diminishing returns to going to a larger rotor as far as power/heat dissipation. Bigger is always better in that regard.
 
Also with larger rotors you get greater breaking torque ...

Are the 220mm sram rotors any thicker than normal? It'd be nice to have something a little more robust than the hope.
 
I have 2020 Comp with Sram Guide RE brakes and Lyrik fork, if I want to upgrade to 220mm front rotor will I need only new 220mm rotor and caliper adapter, anything else?

You may need a couple of thin washers to pack the calliper height up to make sure it contacts centrally on to the rotor correctly (You may not need these) Apart from that as long as the 220 rotor is the same thickness as your current rotor you should be good to go.
 
I thought proper adapter is compensating position of caliper on the rotor ?
 
+40 adapter and some longer hardware (2 bolts) I had some longer ones from past and just filled them with the washers. The rotor is 2.0mm thick. Stock is 1.8, no worries there.

That is why I said you ‘may not’ need these.
In the past, even with the ‘so called correct adapter’ I have had to slot a few washers in to ensure everything lined up.

@Avyoung - were you able to swap to 220mm Centerline SRAM without any additional adapter? Simple straight-swap?
