Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

Would have liked to see that color in real and not in a picture or video because I think it looks very exciting so either it's completely wrong or amazing.

I can confirm that it looks better in real life than in the photos. More vibrant. The guys in the LBS said they liked it as well, although one said that you would have to be a brilliant biker to get away with having that colour if you are a man.

Welcome!

First things first, it’s not ‘pink’ on here it’s (ahem) Saharan Desert or some such! 😂😏

The only time I truly/really notice the weight of an e-bike is when I’m trying to lift it over something on the trail. My 3 weigh in the range of 18kg to 23.5kg, and whilst there are some riding differences it’s only really apparent when I’m lifting them over a trail obstacle or something.

I couldn’t lift my 250cc Motocross bike, but it rode/raced ok!

No new bike release can occur without being compared to the Amflow it would seem, perhaps quite rightly. However, the motor is but one aspect of an e-bike, and it’s always worth considering support especially when the warranty is over.

I’ve got a 2020 Specialized SL 1.1 done 3000 miles on it, battery and motor still rocking on, but the TCU seems to have gone haywire and won’t wake up from sleep without disconnecting a cable. There’s still a dealer network to support it and that’s important to me, otherwise the bike is a wall ornament.

Thanks for the welcome.

Saharan Desert eh? I used to be more exact in my colour descriptions. Talk about the difference between pink and puce, etc, but then the lads began to look at me in strange ways. These days I limit myself to the basic colours and maybe a rainbow... but perhaps best not to go there either.

Ok just returned from the LBS with my class 3 levo. Got the first real ride tomorrow but the parking lot test was much better than expected. quiet! smooth! refined! The feel is unreal. Wow this is what i have been waiting for. Not crazy fast just quick and the speed limiter does not interfere at 20 which is absolutely fantastic and the game changing feature. you guys in the UK/EU are right to be upset with us hahaha. Sure it weighs more and i can feel it moving it around the shop but the extra weight is more in the motor area so its low and centered and did not feel "too heavy" trying a few bunny hops.
The fatass downtube does take a little getting used to but don't let it and a couple extra LBs ruin a good time. i was nervous with all the chit chat amflow bla bla but i am 100% happy so far and can confidently report that it is a game changer and Spesh hit it out of the park again imo, getting closer to the perfect allround ebike. Cheers y'all
Wait till you hit an uphill you will be putting it back in Class I mode.

I think the trend right now is crystal clear: a full power emtb in a slick SL package. And for me it doesn't really need to have 1kW peak power and 120Nm of torque, lower numbers (similar to Gen3) would work just fine, better to have a bit more range and better reliability than insanely powerful motor ... Spesh sadly went in a completely different direction, because at the time of developing gen4, the trend and what customers wanted was something completely different and they failed to foresee the future, no one even imagined that a full power SL ebike is even possible ...
Spesh also had another problem: if the new Levo would somehow comply with current trends, this would kill the need for Levo SL entirely and they are just not prepared for that ...
I think they need different systems/setups for different rider weights. My daughter who is 120lbs doesnt want or need to ride the same bike as my 260lb friend on the same ride. An SL won't keep up, so she just has to deal with the extra weight.

Thanks for the welcome.

Got to have a color for the dentists wife. ;)

I picked up my gen3 a couple of weeks ago. Super happy, glad I saved a bunch of money since my comp was like $2.5k off. This is my third specialized bike now, moving on from stumpjumpers to levo.

The angle of your pictures really make the G4 downtube look huge!
This is a nicer angle -my new G4 is like a Range Rover or maybe a Lexus GX 550 of the EMTB world - awesome luxury off-road machine

Good deal. i dont know how they expect to sell the gen 3 now at just $500 less.

Just got my green gen 4 expert. Overall it looks great, sure the downtube is fat but i hear alot of complaints about bikes coming with only 600s. The side entry is very handy, especially when doing cable adjustments. It weighed 53 lbs exactly, 3 more than my 22 expert. Came with carbon wheels too.
Did they change the wheel specs on the Expert?

although one said that you would have to be a brilliant biker to get away with having that colour if you are a man.

Time will tell if the girls will flock around a burly man who comes jumping down the hills on a black bike or a slender man who rides carefully downhill on a pink bike.

I can’t see this Porky Gen 4 lasting 3 years before the next one is out and left looking the way it does. Not with the speed of which some very good looking bikes are being launched, and more importantly selling out.

Was in my local shop Bikescene today and they had the orange comp carbon on display. The colour looks awesome in the flesh much better than I’ve seen online.

The color itself is not ugly. But because of Specialized's policy, everyone knows that you are riding the poorest version of this model, because the color is the most garish. For me, this is unacceptable. No. For me, big no.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. A quickly removable battery has serious real world advantages. Like charging the battery when on road trips for example where you charge the battery while driving or on campsites.

I also want to see real world builds with the 600wh battery. Like real weights with part lists. Are there frame weights already somwhere?

The Levo sl will probably get a more powerful motor and bigger battery aswell, closing the gap to the levo.

Specialized never was a best bang foe your buck type of deal. That ship sailed with the german dtc brands long time ago. I would be more worried about the us junta crashing the economy.

“There’s no escaping that thick tube”?
Tell that to the Unno Mith — similar power (105 Nm), full-size battery (800 Wh), lower weight (21.2 kg / 46.7 lb), more travel (170 / 160 mm) and it doesn’t look like it swallowed a fire extinguisher. The Levo Gen 4 is less eMTB, more mobile power station with pedals. 😀

I can only get S2 here

does the battery actually have a charge-port? :)

Idk but that would be a really dumb design if it didn't have one and should be mentioned in the very positive reviews.

would need a test ride to give a real opinion. Hard when no one is offering them!
What?
Thats insane……isn’t that rule 101?

Or, are they hiding something? 🤔

Also, regardless of anyone’s opinion, is it not worth test riding/comparing it directly to the Amflow…..even if it’s just for a reference point?

Yep my dealer said I could ride one along the road but that’s not enough to convince me to drop mega money.

Looks are important but don't put that above ride feel. You can't see the bike when you riding anyway.
Next gen batteries will allow for better looks but they still might be heavy so yeah i look forward to the future but lets enjoy the present and be thankful for what we have. Thanks Specialized!!

Yes you can:
Looking down I see the illusion of a gas tank on my new G4
