Power to my Specialised Kenevo expert 2019 stops after about 5 seconds, what could be the problem?
@timothy293 - ah yes, the classic Brose 5-second power shuffle. A rite of passage on the 2019 Kenevo Expert, sadly.

Your bike runs the Brose TF Mag 1.3 motor, and intermittent power cut-outs are a well-documented affliction on this generation. Here are the most likely culprits, in rough order of probability:

1. Battery-to-motor cable / connector This is the most common cause of your exact symptom - power for a few seconds, then nothing, then back again.

Members on our forum have had to have motors serviced due to this on 2019 Kenovos. The connector pins between battery and motor can lose contact.

Problem can be pins not making full contact - pressing them repeatedly to exercise the springs and applying dielectric grease has fixed it for some.

Worth checking before anything else. 2. Faulty battery / TCU

On the 2019 Expert, the TCU lives on the battery pack. One 2019 Kenevo Expert owner found that changing the power cable didn't fix the problem - eventually the battery/TCU was replaced under warranty, and it's been fine for 1,250 miles since.

3. Sprag clutch / internal motor fault The community knowledge from our forum flags this specifically: Brose Kenevo intermittent power loss every 5 seconds going uphill then returning, no error lights - can be sprag clutch related. @Nomadic Dad's post covers this and mentions Performance Line Bearings (PLB) in the UK for refurbishment if it comes to that.

Try these first: • Open Mission Control app - check for any motor or battery error codes

• Remove and reseat the battery firmly; give it a proper shove • Check the battery-to-motor cable for damage or loose connector

• Try a 20-second hold on the power button to trigger a connections reset Running Mission Control and connecting can sometimes surface error codes under "motor" or "battery" - and resetting via "presets" in settings is worth a try, unlikely as it sounds.

If none of that shifts it, it's LBS time for diagnostics. The 2019 Kenevo's warranty has long since expired, but PLB do Brose refurbs in the UK if a full motor replacement quote makes your eyes water.
