I Just got the PL Carbon Pro ten days ago and all the info and reviews said it was one of the top if not THE top rated EMBT.

Just 32 miles and 6 days later the PX Carbon Pro launches and i am struggling with huge buyers remorse.

Hindsight is wonderful but to bring out a new flagship in less than 18 months is going to really annoy us M1 owners.

I asked Amflow directly if they sell the M2S motor but they say its not compatible with the M1 (despite YouTube sayig otherwise).

Not sure what to do now. Do i just cut my losses and sell it to put towards a PX or just live with obsolete tech?
Still riding my Bosch Gen4 with great satisfaction. The M1 is much nicer. M2/M2s ecosystem is mostly the same. Do you think you really need the 1300/1500W? Are you even able to manage it? I'm not.
Only reason I'm looking at the new M2 bikes is that i need to remove the batteries from my Gen4 Whytes and it's a pain, and that my wife is 48kg x 1.60cm and for her it's nearly impossible to load a 25kg bike on a chairlift or pull it over a larger obstacle. She manages once or twice but at the third she's completely spent. We get 90nm/650W from the Gen4 and we never felt we needed more.
So if you like the bike and it does all you need with nearly twice as much the powe we have I don't think you miss out anything.

4 of us have Avinox motor. One unno mith 3 amflow. We love this motor. Don’t need any more power. These bikes are incredible. We have no buyers remorse. We could not be happier. We had Bosch motor before - the Avinox is on another level. There will always be improvements and changes otherwise they can’t sell bikes. But regrets - never ! Sometimes you can’t put a price on how much is it worth to have a happy smiling group every ride - we have never been so happy. We have been changing e bikes since Covid. But have always enjoyed them all. But this carbon pro 2025 model is in class of its own. No words can describe how much we appreciate and love these bikes with Avinox motor - dji have changed e bike market - all manufacturers will have to step up .

Thanks for more replies.

I just think Amflow should have done what Commenical have done with the Meta Power SX. Its on their website available for preorders for July.

Enjoy your bike — it’s fantastic. BUT… change dealer 🙂

It wasn’t honest of him not to warn you about the new models.
My dealer told me already in November/December. He didn’t know all the details, of course, but he knew the timeframe (early April) and some specs.

By the end of February they already had geometry, specs, and some early (fake) renderings — plus the possibility to see the bike live.

So yes, he probably “lost” some PL sales (in fact he didn’t order many despite the demand), but he earned the trust of his customers, which in the long run is worth much more.

Most of the people with the new M2S / M2 bikes are running reduced power & torque because it's too much.
Very few people actually NEED this kind of power and torque on public MTB tracks

As for not knowing about the new kit - It's been known since at least early January these new motors and batteries were dropping in April.

Our Trek Rail Bosch Gen4 motors and batteries are a generation old now - they still rip & shred on the trails ! :)

If you want to spend money to improve your riding then get some coaching, over chasing the latest shiny bike releases every 6 months
I agree with you about the power but If you weren't hanging out in forums or talking to a local dealer, probably wouldn't have known about the new kit.

Amflow kept the specific technical details like the exact specs of the new PX and PR carbon series under an embargo until the April launch.

I am not an a full on enthusiast and just enjoy trails and some enduro with my family so i would not have known unfortunately.

Thats where i went wrong. I orderd online rather than a dealer.

Lesson learned

Companies can't win, can they.

Release a product with stock available immediately people complain there wasn't enough warning.

Announce a product 6 months in advanced of stock availability and people complain it's too long from announcement to shipping.

No matter what bike you buy, or when, there will always be something "better" out and you'll get FOMO

2nd hand prices will mean you lose a fortune

I have a Bosch Gen4 bike - when Gen5 came out I kicked myself a bit but then it got the 100nm update and I kicked myself a lot, now there's rumours it will get another power increase. Bosch could do it with Gen4 too but they want to drive sales

I looked at the new amflow bikes and they're a bargain, the £5300 PR pro looks like such a great deal - but reality is now that my bikes worth even less as if I sell it people will just go "why buy that when I can get the £4k amflow"

Do I want a bike with more power, and wireless shifting - yes
Is it worth selling my £5k bike for £2k then putting another £3.5k on top? - no

My bikes just over 2 years old, it's mechanically perfect. It's down on power and heavy compared to what I'd get now but at some point you have to just draw a line. Even if I sold up and bought an amflow today - by the time it gets delivered at end of May there'll be 40 other avinox bikes announced and I'll wish I had got one of those instead.

I just focus on - does the bike work? (always), is it enough for my riding skill? (absolutely), do I enjoy getting out riding it? (yep)

And for what it's worth - the people I ride with who have amflows moan quite often about it eating chains/cassettes and the range being poor - I don't think whacking another 30-50nm of power on will make that better lol

Exactly this

I just spent £600 on 2x additonal batteries (625 and 750) for our 'obsolete' Bosch Gen4 bikes.
This will allow us to ride loop trails and Bike Parks in eMTB+/Turbo modes for longer, swapping to the 2nd battery half way through the day, over mostly using Tour/eMTB modes on the single battery.

For us, this is better than upgrading to new Gen bikes with more power & torque, which would drain the battery quicker, meaning we couldn't use these new features without reducing the ride time.

I think the annoucing a product early although going to annoy people is the lesser of the two issues. The 1st causes people much more frustration as they have already parted with money.
And you need a 150Nm Axinox moto

And you need a 150Nm Axinox motor?
No not at all but need and want are two separate things.

I wish i had a more pragmatic brain but i have ADHD and it makes me crave the next best thing.

I buy a lot of tech that i dont need and is way over powered and to be honest i live in a very flat part of the UK so not likely to need 150n.

The new model barely looks any different. 95% of riders never adjust the geo anyway.

Who told you it's the best bike you can buy? This is far from true. All that matters is if it's the correct bike for you....

better sell my bike then as its obsolete tech. Ride the bike, the amflow PL with outstanding reviews is still an outstanding bike nothing has changed becaue a new ones out.

I watched reviews and ran several AI review ranking search on Gemini and GBT to give me the top most highly rated E mbt. AMFlow Pl came out as top 3

Unfortunately i love tech and now it seems Mountain biking has joined the tech race. I didn't care with my manual enduro bike.

I will buy a new flagship GPU and processor for my desktop rig every two years when the new ones release. My desktop PC setup now costs more than two of the PL pros and it seems my stupid brain has now focused on Ebikes due to the tech.

I understand, i chose my M1 motor druid over a m2 because i wanted it now. New motors out i got no regrets the new model druid has lighter suspension than mine so happy with that. The differences between the new amflow and old one are only slight revisions everyone knew it was coming. Id just be asking myself are these differences going to make my experience any better? then ask yourself if its going to make it £2000 better as thats likely what you'll lose swapping.

it sucks we all make mistakes, i thought id get a levo4 before my druid and then ended up selling it after 2 months. You either swallow the loss or live with what you got. The OG amflow is still and will continue to be a great bike.

When the bike only goes to 25kmh assist, who cares . A cheap end hub bike [chinese also, $900 bike}will smash the Avinox anyway .

the m1 is still one of the most powerfull motor out there. more power then bosch,shimano,brose or speci.
ask yourself how often do you need the power advantage of m2. in most cases you ride auto mode or trail mode i guess and if you like it more sporty you go eco tune. the pl has 800wh intube and the new one only 700wh both around same weight.
you can mod the pl with cascade or other linkage. the only thing i miss and i am dissopinted with dji is the heartrate power control and the range extender. M1 PL is still a top bike with more then enough power. i woud only sell this bike for a new mgu unit like pinion 2 or bosch / dji mgu oneday.

Yep - I get it, I do exactly the same😟

-> Desktop gaming PC's
-> Sim Racing hardware
-> Mobile phones / iPads
-> Digital Mirrorless camera's & lenses
-> eMTB's

Repeat all of the above for my son as well 😬

Sometimes you have you stop spending money and enjoy what you have.
Now, whenever something new is released I tell myself to go back 3 years and watch the videos/reviews of the new stuff then. Which is always being marketed as the latest and greatest at that point in time.

Is a new sim racing wheel going to improve my lap time - No !
Is a new Digi camera going to take better photos - probably not
Is a new eMTB going to make riding better - no

I also realised it's pointless spending money on new kit/tech, if that means you have less/no money to go to places to actually use it :LOL:

Probably more now RAM and Storage is worth more than gold 😂

I'll say this as gently as I can - if the core issue is ADHD, then a newer betterer shinier bike isn't going to solve your problem. It might patch it for a while but before long, something else will come along & you'll be right back where you started. If you can, you need to work on overcoming the desires stopping you from enjoying what you have. I know it's much easier to say than do but it is the answer.

If you want to talk about obsolete tech, I just bought an EP801 equipped Orbea Rise in January.

Go enjoy your bike 😉
Maybe, but still a great bike! I am planning on picking up a PR, but can envision times when I will still pick the lighter bike…

How awesome is Amflow? They even make people who already had Amflows want to upgrade. Haha

...i'm in the opposite boat. I'm leaning towards the "older" one. I prefer 29'" wheels, it has more power than I need, bigger battery paired with a motor that isn't as thirsty as the new one (range is very important to me, like..#1 on my wish list) Gripshit is my favorite way to move the rear derailleur...

..to each their own of course and at the rate these things are advancing even the newest ebike is going to look ancient in another 2-3 years. You'll never get ahead of it.

It's so tempting to change your custom title to "Marriage Counsellor".
