Shimano Saint RDM820 - can I go 42t

I have a Shimano Saint 10 speed shadow+ (rdm820) rear mech

Tech sheet says 36t max, but id like to go 42t, something like a cs-hg500-10


Question is, will it work, has anyone done this?

I use this mech, and 36t is absolutely max.
Do you really need 42...??...

I currently have an sram 12 speed, 52t i think, I do climb some steep stuff, but have been trying to use the 3rd ring down as a test for a 36t max

I can get up 90% of climbs using this, so you're probably right

Could go a bit smaller on the chainring as a compromise?
